Finally picked up new car

Featured Replies

Finally collected my vRS this morning - TSI, race blue, leather seats, maxidot + spare wheel (of course!).

Been a hell of a wait (ordered mid Nov), but worth it. I was told by my dealer that there are delays on the spare wheels and they'd let me know when I can go back it pick it up. However, I then discovered later there is a spare in the boot so not sure what they're on about :giggle:

I didn't have the tank of fuel I was expecting, but they did follow me to the local garage and paid for me to fill it up (£65 later) when I raised it.

Very early initial thoughts:

- I really like the gear-change suggestion the display gives for optimal economy. Coming from a diesel, I've found it very very handy to get used to driving a petrol as without it, I wouldn't have even thought I could have gone 30mph in 5th gear. I know some people don't like it, but I've found it really good so far. Especially while gradually running the car in, I'm trying a few "economy drives" to see what I can get out of it. On my 4.5 mile journey home from work today (< 1 mile on a motorway) I got 34MPG which I thought pretty good for such a short journey. Of course, I'll be opening it up a bit at some point.

- came back to my car this evening to find all 4 windows open by about an inch. I think I've read something about this mysterious behaviour on the forum so need to dig out what that's all about. If anyone has any info on this, please share!

- finding it very easy to slip it into 3rd instead of 1st when coming out of reverse. Must stop being a numpty.

- car has not been set to the fixed servicing schedule as I'd asked, but have been told to just bring it back in 1 year for a service and it can be set then. Did offer to give a quote on the fixed cost servicing, but I declined - they seemed to think I was made of money by declining as it's supposedly cheaper. Anyone got any opinions on whether this is worth it?

Great car, loving it!

Enjoy :)

Regarding the windows, it sounds like open button has been pressed whilst the

keys were in your pocket.

Yep, I worked out late last night what I'd done - holding the open button down = windows open. Relieved it's something I did and not some strange fault!

Congrats Slim.

Mine has been delivered to the dealer.

Ordered it end of January, picking it up March 31st

So 2 months from order to customer hand over, not too bad eh ?

Taking advantage of Skoda 7 days insurance so I can dispose of the Pug.

Regarding economy, our new vRS TSI has been impressing us on our daily commute. Previously, we'd use my partners car, a 1.25 Fiesta and get 42mpg. Now in the petrol vRS it's dropped to... 38mpg. Not bad for a much bigger heavier car with 170% more power. :)

Cheers. Wow, that is a very quick turnaround! Most of my wait was down to waiting for the new 10 plate, but I expected it would have been available on the 1st March given the amount of time.

What type of commute do you have? And how long have you had your vRS? I'd be very happy if I could average 38. As I do < 8000 miles a year, and a daily roundtrip of ~9 miles, it's not likely for me!

Thats a 70 mile round trip, about 20% of which is crawling through city traffic. It's only done 800 miles so far. :)

I had something similar, when I got mine! The key buttons were very sensitive at first, the slightest touch of the unlock key brought the windows down. it doesnt seem to happen now? maybe it was just me :giggle:

First tank of fuel done. Did a couple of long journeys to various places and love the cruise control. Filled up before I was completely out of fuel, but with the range that was left, I would have had 410 miles from the tank. Averaged 39.8MPG on the way out on over 80 miles, can't grumble with that especially as that's from the first tank of fuel (normal unleaded).
