Ideas for a camera mount

Featured Replies

Having given pip_polo my old fabia only seat mounted video camera mount, I am now looking for an alternative. An ideal one for me would be one which clamps on to the headrest poles and sits in the middle of the car above the centre console area. The other choice is for a suction one, but not sure what I need for that. Camera concerned is a relatively old but reliable Sony Digicam hi8 camcorder.

Those Aldi cameras are rather low res, and have reports of poor sound - I looked at them for my mountain bike the other day!

I made a small mount which I tie-wrapped to the center windscreen vent in my octavia. Camera then fed into a laptop via a USB adapter. - slightly off topic though.

A small plank of wood, three holes drilled into it.

Two that are exactly the right diameter and distance apart for the headrest mounts, then a further hole towards the centre of the car for the screw that goes up into the camera?

You could go further and sand it if you had the time, maybe varnish it? :)

Dont go for the cheap action cam unless you only want to use it for really silly places where you wouldnt want to put a normal camera.

Ever thought about hardwiring a bullet cam in the front somewhere then just connect up a recorder as and when?

Gorilla pod tied around headrest mounting rod ? Headrest depressed as far as possible to steady pod and camera ?

Some interesting stuff here, particularly the ion camera:-
