Bulb warning light, but all lights are good

Featured Replies

Fabia vRS 05. As soon as I turn the key it beeps at me and the bulb out warning light lights up on the dash.

We've looked at all the bulbs and none are out?? Indicators, brakes, reverse, fogs, main beam, dipped beam, side lights... everything seems to be ok.

I've just tried reseating all of the back end bulbs and that didn't do anything. I suppose next would be reseating all of the front bulbs (they were all replaced a few months a go with Osram Nightbreakers though, and seem to be lighting up just fine!)

Anyone run in to this one before?!

The bulb failure system works using a resistance value for each circuit. Make sure all bulbs are E marked, and that none are LED type bulbs. After that I would check for a poor earth somewhere in the lighting circuit. I would put money on an earth in one of the rear light clusters. Make sure only the bulbs that are meant to be lit, are lit, sometimes a bulb acts as an earth for another circuit, e.g. side light glowing when brakes applied.

is it possible for water to ingress into the rear light cluster if the pipe to the rear windscreen washer has blown off/burst.... just an inquisitive question?

would it be physically impossible as i have had "light out" bulb on dashboard and all the lights have been fine. I've put it down to cold weather recently as its gone away since the nicer days in N.Ireland have come in.

cheers

The bulb out warning kept coming up on my husbands Audi A6 whenever he braked. The bulbs were fine for a few days but eventually one did go. When he replaced it the filament still looked intact, although it no longer lit. Maybe you've got a bulb on it's way out too?

I had this problem on my 05 Fabia Vrs too, absolutely drove me crackers. All bulbs were fine, replaced all of them anyway to see if it would make any difference, did it b0ll0cks. Had it in at the local VW garage who couldn't find a fault and were as stumped as me as to what was wrong. Luckily I had a few weeks left on the warranty so took it in to the Skoda garage where I got it and they turned the warning lamp and buzzer off via VagCom. Unfortunately it must be linked with the windscreen fluid level as that no longer has any warning when it's low!

Touch wood, no problems since!

I would agree with that comment. Many times I have seen cars that, when the signals are on, the lights flash with them...that might cause the problem.
