looking to enter into the world of Octavia VRS ownership (most likely CR DSG race blue estate with DSG) but would like to drive before buying.

Does anyone know of a dealership that has a CR DSG demonstrator somewhere in the south of England (live in Hampshire).

If not I will be spending monday morning on the phone as looking to order before the end of the week. (VAT free!)

Cheers

Try Withams in Walton-on-thames. they have an old (pre-FL) CR DSG hatchback, the only difference in it is that it doesn't have the paddle-shift, but its still a good drive. I've gone for the estate as well, but based on the test drive of that car.

Withams

I did it with two test drives, firstly in a Octy VRS CR manual and then to get the feel of an auto DSG box I drove a Superb CR170 with DSG

Similar to me, except it was a PD140 Elegance with a DSG for me as well as the manual CR vRS

Try meadens skoda at Sway in the new forest (www.meadensskoda.co.uk) I don't know about the demonstrator but they have a couple of low mileage pre facelift used cars for sale, not DSG but as earlier post said you could try the vRS cars then try a DSG equipped car, I think they have a Superb with the CR170 TDI DSG combination there as well, they have a good reputation on here as well.

If you want to do it in 2 attempts then make sure you drive the engine AND gearbox you want to buy. That way you'll know the characteristics of it, rather than the characteristics of the gearbox with an engine delivering differing amounts of torque/power

it might, If i were you I'd try and find the vRS to test drive. Anything else and can't guarantee it to be the same. Especially when you see how many people with 105 and 140 bhp diesels complaining about their DSG boxes. I've bought my car from Withams, despite living in dartford, half a lap round the M25 away. Its well worth the drive to visit a decent dealership

Don't know if it is too far for you to travel but I know Palmers in Watford have a CR DSG VRS which can be used as a demo.

Withams had one when I ordered my Octavia as I took it out for a test drive. Give Geoff a call and I'm sure he will be able to help you.

We've got a vRS DSG CR Estate you can drive if you like, again like the others it's not a facelift but mechanically it's the same as a new one. I've also got a facelift vRS petrol you can drive if you wish.

I can confirm what Countryboy said and when I had my test drive they let me have the car without them
accompany me and said for as long as I liked.
I was going to suggest about 3years would be nice but thought that might be pressing it a bit.
However I did have a 2 hour drive and was very pleased with the DSG. The car had the paddle levers which I did not want until I drove it.
How I'm hooked on it and ordered it.

By the way I understand that Meade have a very good service reputation but unfortunately their price quote to me was over £1000.00 out.

So I ordered from Rainworth

Managed to get a drive in a FL CR DSG Hatch on Sunday. Sparshatts of Fareham managed to get one (being run by the directors wife!). Liked it alot, DSG was brilliant, and I was willing to put pen to paper but they couldn't (wouldn't) match the DtD price. So looks like I will be going down that route and selling the mondy privately, unless one of the dealers I have emailed comes back with a good price today. Next dilema is the colour. I had my mind set on Race blue, but the sales man said it looks amazing in anthracite, so I'm torn.

Finally done it! The order is in:

Octavia VRS CR DSG estate. Race Blue (I know, how common!)
Sunroof
Sunset glass
Rear sensors
Silver rails
Curtain airbags
Spare wheel
Variable floor.

Finally ordered from Sparshatts of Botley my local dealer who matched the DTD price and given 12 months tax.

Been given a build date of Week 26! anybody know how far this is likely to move?

Apparently, because they are a relatively new dealership they have bonuses for selling to local post codes.

Sales manager said 'he'd never sold a card so cheap!" :'(

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their help and advice.

Roll on July! Will be looking for a friendly local VCDS person to do some tweaks, beer tokens will be available!

GP

Can i ask why you went for a sunroof?

With having aircon now, they just seem like somethign else to go wrong in the car and something else to rattle.

Adding a sunroof to my last new car was the biggest mistake I made. It just rattled constantly if it was shut, and the wind noise was unbearable when opened

Sunroof was a wife request! I would have gone for xenons but she will be driving it half the time so had to keep her sweet with something! I did get the DSG.

If it rattles its going back to the shop!!

I'd have gone for Xenons myself, never mind what SWMBO wants.

I had a sunroof on my last car a Focus ST. It makes the inside feel lighter and you have the option of seeing the trees and birds above youhttp://briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0144-nod.gif

The only reason I did not go for one on my new VRS was because there is no return financially. When looking to sell my ST I was not offered anything extra for the sunroof so this time I thought I would save £500
