Hi

Just registered. Knew about Briskoda for a few years now but only just bought my first Skoda. Previous VAG group cars were a 2000 Lupo 1.0 SE in Jazz Blue (Was in PVW and also on Club Lupo) and a 2002 SEAT Leon S 1.4 16v in Platinum Grey (See Seatcupra.net). Both were modified.

Have just bought a 2001 Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance Estate in black. Had to be an estate due to needing room for the kids stuff (pushchair etc). The car has a few minorish problems which I'm going to sort out asap with the first one being a full set of brakes as its basically metal on metal. Other problems include:-

Electric window switch panels not working/damaged

Door mirror heaters not working (relay clicks and Fuse 38 is fine)

Air Con needs servicing

Knocking noise when going over bumps (bushes I think)

Middle Air Vents damaged

Boot wont open via the release button between the number plate lights. Opens fine via the key fob and the the interior boot release lever.

Rear washer doesn't work. Can hear the motor but I think the pipe has come off from the bottle as I can hear water running onto the floor from the front.

Also need to get around to putting Vagcom on the car as well at some point.

welcome to briskoda

Welcome, sounds like you have some work on your hands......

Thanks for the welcome :)

Luckly the problems are minor and easy to repair. Should hopefully have most done tomorrow. Managed to get a full set of brakes (4 discs, Set of front and set of rear pads) for a bargin price of £66. Wipers also needed changing so went to my local Skods dealer (Robert Eardly, Newcastle Under Lyme) and got a rear blade for £5.05 and bought a set of aero blades from ACEPARTS in the Channel Islands for £9.99. All fitted apart from the brakes which will be done tomorrow.

Been quoted £80 for a full set of 4 new electric window switches on each door. ARB bush @ £3 and Console bush @£10. Need to check which bushes are worn first though.

Also can't wait until I can get my Sony bluetooth headunit put in instead of the standard Skoda cassette headunit. Keep all my music on memory cards and stream them via my phone (Sony Ericsson Satio)

Forgot to mention that the Fabia is also Bi-Fuel. Has had the Autogas conversion done with a 47 litre tank in the spare wheel well. Should be about £25 for a full tank of LPG. Cost £50 for a tank of normal Unleaded so with the LPG conversion I'll cut my monthly fuel bill in half and the Unleaded will last longer. Will only need it for starting up then switch over to LPG :)

Its also saved me a bit on road tax. 6 months tax was only £85.25 instead of £98.
