"RING" Prep

Featured Replies

Well seeing as i'm back off to the "RING" again mid may i thought rather than leave everything to the last minute like usual i'd start getting the vRS up together early.

so over the last few weeks i've been doing a few bits, first was the breather hoses then the thermostate.

sat just gone was cambelt and water pump and major service.

this was the state of the water pump when i took it out!!

Hahaha thats brilliant!!!

Good on you for giving the car a good check over before you go. We were going for some grub at the local chinese the night before our Ring trip last year and a bloody coil spring snapped!

lol......nice one!

well after the trip in august last year the ATR didn't make it back under it's own steam lol

bottom end went on the home straight, had to push it back in with the help of several german gt3 passengers!!!

lol, I like the decals mate,

That WP is not good, hope it fell apart when it was out and thats not how it came out?

good luck at the ring mate.

fell apart after i took it out, replaced it with a metal impellered pump.

idea's for this year is a bit more conservative, a full diagram of the track going around the car with every corner labeled lol

Love the graphics! Very Top Gear-esque!

I'll be hitting the Ring in September so mine will be getting a good service before hand, and hopefully by then will be riding on Weitec Coilovers with custom rated springs and be running a decent brake set up.

Classic :)

Haha I like the stickers! It was actually my sister who made the graphics for the original Top Gear 24hr BMW. Strange but true!

I'd say good brake pads and tyres were the most useful things I got before my ring trip. A guy came with my group in a Civic Type R, with bald tyres and shot brake pads! He had a terrible weekend not being able to stop or turn!

Looks like you stayed in the same hotel we did. How much did that recovery rape you for?! Couple of mates got fully rinsed by them when they smashed up that hotels Silva Striker in the wet! Having said that, the hotel totally ripped them off for the damages. Cheeky krauts!

i always stay at the ringhaus, frank is a top guy and always helpfull if you need anything.

and being only 200 yards from the ring entrance does help lol

recovery never cost me a penny as i had full euro cover, called them from the hotel the following day and they sent someone to collect it and bring it back to the uk hence theres no graphics on it on the truck lol
