car built approx 2 weeks ago and still waiting for delivery from dealer in somerset.phoned dealer on wednesday and he says car still in docks at emden,and that there is a shortage or ships for bringing them into this country. ive noticed that there are a lot of ships going into grimsby but hardly any into sheerness where mine is coming into. anyone else heard this sort of flannel from their dealer and is it right my vrs will come into sheerness as i live in somerset?

I would say this is all correct

Cars can get 'stuck'at Emden waiting for a ferry. Part of the problem is that the 3 ports in the UK can only handle relatively small ships so the ferries only take about 800 cars a time, that is small in car ferry terms.

Any way you can find out what port your car would be on according to where your dealer is?

MIne is in South Wales... guessing Sheerness as well though (as I believe that is London?)

Ask your dealer. But try the sales admin office rather than the sales staff

Sheerness is on the north coast of Kent to the east of London

Mine was in Emden last week, but was on the ship which left there on Tuesday (23/03), arrived Sheerness on Wednesday and was dispatched to the dealer on Thursday. They reckon they will have the car on Monday and I'm due to pick up on Wednesday (31st). It was built in week 10 (08/03). From monitoring the shipping over the last few weeks, there seems to be one ship from Emden to Sheerness every week, but 3 per week to Grimsby.
