yeti alloy wheel touch up paint

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Had my SM 170 since December, driven 3k miles to date and its running in nicely. Acceleration improving as it loosens up, MPG averaging low 40's. Well pleased.

Had the headlight problem from new, must not switch them on until started to avoid bulb failure dash warning light etc. Things took a turn for the worse last night. Forgot to switch off auto light setting before a restart after re-fuelling and tried headlight setting on switch - headlights refused to illuminate at all so will need to re visit dealer to raise the problem again ( I was waiting for a re-call to sort problem out and am surprised its taking so long.)

I have picked up a small stone chip on leading edge of bonnet. It was only a matter of time so in anticipation ordered a touch up from dealer in Aqua Blue Met. Just over £ 7 for base coat plus lacquer isn't too bad.

Also have 2 small chips on Alloys ( standard Spitzberg ). Dealer said Skoda don't do Alloy wheel Paint which I think is a poor show! Tried Halfords but their nearest silver is too light so I'm hoping someone reading this can suggest where I could get some, just about everyone is going to need to repair their alloys sooner or later so I'm sure help on this one will be much appreciated by owners everywhere.

Thanks in anticipation

About £40 tops to get it refurbed

Thanks for quick reply !!! Wheels don't need refurbing, the chips are TINY but left alone and unprotected corrosion will set as the "alloy spider"gets to work.

I think the xenon light problem has a proper cure now but it is not subject to a recall.

The Xenon problem solution is replacing the controllers. There is a service bulletin.

You can probably find a nail polish in a colour that matches. Brush included. B)

Unless the chip to the alloy has created an unsightly mark I would simply use a little of the clear lacquer that you get with the regular touch up paint. It might not provide a matching colour but it will seal the wound so to speak.

No one makes a touch up paint for alloys wheels, as far as I can tell. Neighbour was having some scratches done on his car and I spoke to the man who was doing it, and he said that he mixes up normal car touch up to get the right colour.

Lol at least you can get a touch up paint for your Aqua Blue Yeti - I've got a couple of chips on my Muscavado and after trying a couple of local dealers there is no listed paint whatsoever (touch up or aerosol) grrrr!
