From that link:

25mm engine mount spacers. These fit under you engine mounts and will raise the sump by 25mm. If your golf is low you need these. Price for a pair of lightweight aluminum spacers and stainless steel bolts Will be £50 with a further £5 carraige charge. limited numbers available so get them while they are hot kids.

oh :swear: i forgot about that :thumbup:

Will also depend on how low you want to go cos you may have drive shaft issues too,i was considering raising the engine in mine after hearing about people doing this but my drivers side drive shaft occasionaly hits the chassis leg as there's only a few mm clearance,so the leg would need notching on mine first to give clearance so might be worth checking that first too

Notch chassis legs, put hockey pucks under your mounts :)

lookin to get it on the track so im not to sure about the raisers and the centre of gravity bein messed up, so im swayin towards the shallow sump i think

playing around with a shallow sump at the mo, will let you know how it goes, vag do one that gwerks sell, it is cheaper than a baffled sump and has a steel bottom section. Engine sump guards are a good idea but are heavy and will affect the handling, not cheap either. Not sure on those engine raisers either tbh.

Why not just join? It's free :giggle:

I recently took out my sump :'( .

I've had it replaced with a Brazilian shallow sump from G-Werks.

The Brazilian shallow sump has no oil level sensor attachment point.

My oil level sensor has been retro fitted back into the bottom on the steel plate, and sits @ about the same height as it would on the standard sump.

Recon its better option than the standard sump though.

The grounding plates, like the panzer plates that diesel geeks do, add far far too much weight to car, and sit lower than anything, so increase your chance of hitting the deck in the first place !

Those engine raisers sound like a bad idea and a pain in the ring. Seems like a lot of work to make your car handle worse to me. I'd imagine loads of stuff would need adjusting (exhaust, dogbone, clutch hydraulics, gear linkage, coolant hoses etc.).

Shallow sump seems the way forth to me. My dad bought up an interesting point about sump materials the other day. I was moaning about the ally sump, and he pointed out that the advantage of the super soft ally sump is that if you smash it right in, to the point where the big ends hit it, it will just get smashed out of the way, and the crankshaft would survive. But if you boshed a steel sump in the same way, it would probably take out the crank with it.

I think he just wanted to put me off buying one of these! http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_IV--1.8T/Engine/Mechanical/Oil_Pan/ES4369/

It's a genuine VW part which is interesting. They obviously know they have cheese sumps!

brazilian.......mmmmmmmmm

now we are talking :p

that ecs one is the one that snow muncher has, the brazilian pan.

why anyone would want to raise the engine and in turn the angle of the driveshafts is beyond me, its a bad idea!!!
