Next question - how does Maxidot work?

Featured Replies

Again, can't easily see the answer on the forums... I've been reading on here about using the maxidot to change some basic car settings (door lock key presses, for instance) - how do you do that, and would I be able to do it with just the maxidot that comes as an extra with a new vrs?

I'm concerned I've got the wrong idea, and it needs a complete change to the steering wheel, or something more complicated.

Thanks again :)

If you don't have the MFWS and you have ordered maxidot you get a rocker switch and a button on the right hand stalk that can be used to control the maxidot menus etc.

Ah, of course - so it replaces the rocker I've got at the moment for cycling between between mpg, temp, etc... excellent. Thanks for the prompt response!

My dealer didn't seem to think you could change anything using the maxidot, though, apart from which item of information is displayed. Does the changing of physical things like key presses, warning beeps, etc, require some sort of voodoo wiring or hacking? Or is it just a case of following on-screen prompts?

Cheers

I have a MFSW but if my memory serves correct (which will be a minor miracle :) ), you can access the menus by holding the rocker switch down for a couple of seconds... Once in the setup menu the various bits and peices on your car can be changed. Some of the items aren't obvious though e.g. th turn on the chirp for the alarm you need to tick ATA Confirm (Anti-Theft Alarm?).

You can only access the setup menu when the vehicle is stationary

Maxidot is just like a liitle computer screen which you can control using the steering wheel buttons or in my case the wiper stalk buttons. I did relpy to a post entitled "new toy arrived" or something like that which I think is on page 3 or 4 of the Octavia II forum showing how to deactivate the alarm confirmation chirp, that method can be used to go around all the menus you have available on your maxidot.

Found it and how to quote from it!!

Good diversion to this thread but back to the beginning, how to disable alarm chirp using maxidot:-

Turn ignition on and wait for screen to settle down on MFD screen,

Press lower end of rocker switch on wiper stalk until MAIN MENU appears,

Press lower end of rocker switch again until "SET UP" highlighted in box,

Press reset button on bottom side of wiper stalk,

SET UP menu appears,

CONVENIENCE should be the first line on screen, if not scroll down using rocker switch until highlighted in box and press reset button,

New menu appears, scroll down until ATA CONFIRM highlighted,

Press reset button

New screen with ON,OFF,BACK appears,

Scroll down until OFF highlighted,

Press reset button,

Word just under ATA CONFIRM should change from ON to OFF, this is what you want.

Scroll back to start by using rocker switch to highlight BACK in each screen, then press reset button, until you get back to MFD screen

JOB DONE!!! good luck is easy enough.
