columbus voice control

Featured Replies

can anyone shed some light on why my voice control does not work on my sat nav. The mic is routed to the back of the columbus to the mic in + & - yet when i push the voice control button it cant hear me and just asks me to repeat the command. Has anyone retro fited a columbus and got voice control working?

Short answer no. I tried for about 5 hours on a mates car to get it to work.

I think Hedge had the same prob as well.

did you code it in vcds?

Yup tried all that.

Have you got the latest Firmware Version ? I believe voice control was introduced with version 26**

Are you using a compatible mic, not all mics are created equal,

Hi Carl

did you try changing the wiring (+ and -)?

As magic62 says - use the oem mic and swap + & - over.

Yes I have retro fitted Columbus & Bluetooth

The following is from Volkswagen RNS 510 Microphone Connection for voice control | my-gti.com

For the voice control - after you have re-routed the microphone via the Columbus the following coding is required:

Navigation - Controller 37

Open controller 37 and click on coding.

Click on long coding helper.

Select byte 3 bit 1 to enable microphone diagnostics (not essential but will alert you to problems with microphone).

Finally deselect byte 7 and bit 1 to enable voice control and save the settings.

I hope this helps.

Can anyone provide me the tech specs on these mics? I'm looking at sourcing a near fit in Australia for my Columbus running FW2760.

Dont have the exact specs, but any handsfree mic will do. I used one out of an old sony ericsson handsfree set and in another car one of an old nokia set.

Ebay can provide you with these mics.

Thanks for that, I'll look in my AV box and see what choices I have.....

...........does that mean that all you nees is a microphone that you hook on the + and -

...............and no other wiring( and some coding)?????????????

I havn't had mine recoded yet but those that have done it suggest yes, you only need a microphone. One respondent has successfully used old hands free phone mics from nokia and sony ericsson.

Of course you need the firm ware version that enables voice control... mine is FW2760

...i think mine is 2720 and it supports voice, when i press the i@ its begins to talk but cant hear me :).

...i read at some other forums that some had to kind of short cicurit (adding a wire)too, can you confirm that no additional wire is required other than the mic?

..what kind of mic do you have?

...do you do your own coding?

john

You only need to rewire when you want to use your mic from the original handsfree kit.

I didnt have an original handsfree kit, just a Parrot MKi9200 with its own mic. So had to add a mic.

Same you could do with a Columbus allthough having a handsfree kit. Only thing is, that there will be 2 mics in the car.

Looks like the right kit for the Octavia, already including the rewiring kit for the voice control.

Price is absolut fair.

...which one should/do i choose???

Depends on what you want.

The link in GBP is ver C, but comes with the rewiring kit for the voice control and a glue on GSM antenna.

The other kit is with the original Skoda part numbers, but misses the rewiring kit. It is more expensive also.

Think I would have gone for the first link and not the german written one.

Hi can you just confirm what pins you have routed your mic to. At the moment mine is in pin 6 and 12 tel + & -, when I changed it to pins 1 and 7 the voice control stopped working and when dialing from the BT I could not hear anything nor could they hear me?

What pins did you wire your mic to 1 & 7 ?? do you have to come from the mic out pin 4 & 9 and back into 6 & 12 if you have the bluetooth? Or will routing mic to 1 and 7 work for both voice control and bluetooth once coded?
