Window switches swapped over!

Featured Replies

SWMBO mentioned last night that the electric window switches have swapped over ie:- they operate the wrong windows. Apparently the button for locking the doors doesn't work either.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is it a loose wire in the door, or a software issue? Is it the start of something big and expensive, or just a little glitch?

Any help appreciated,

Sam

The central control module sometimes throws a wobbly. Usually the next time you get back in the car it will be back to normal again. :)

OK, thanks - will have to ask her if its sorted now. I seem to remember that its happened before (not sure which of our cars though!), and it sorted itself out.

Thanks

Yup, all sorted now, although it did develop another fault :S

Mine used to do this when the battery was getting a bit tired and the computer was resetting itself when the drop in voltage occurred when starting the car.

To reset it you need to do the full-open & full-close operation by using the key in the door as following :-

• With the car unlocked, put your key in the drivers door, twist to the unlock position and hold until the electric windows are fully open.

• Twist the key to the locked position and hold until the windows are fully up.

• The window switches should operate the corrct windows.

Would this sort the fault on my wifes car? The drivers window stopped working for a time, I disconnected and checked all the connectiosn and motor, all seemed ok, put it back together and the window worked again. but ever since then the drivers window works opposite to the switch position. IE pull switch up and window goes down and vice versa? Have tried all sorts to fix this, leaving disconnected overnight to force reset etc, no joy.
