  • Dom, the pop up bug deflector (catcher!) has never been wet or damp when I've cleaned it or sat in traffic pulling it flat to the roof.... dont ask, I get bored easily in traffic! Good luck getting i

  • I'm sorry but that is a total lie from the dealer in my book. Drive at any speed with the roof open and then with a free hand press the deflector down. The resulting wind buffeting is horrendous and

  • When you go to get it back, would you be willing to ask them where the front drain begins and ends, so that other people can check theirs? I for one would be much obliged.

Personally I would have seen that the sunroof was not openable, like on the Roomster. It would have been cheaper, and there would be less chance of leaks.

And then you are a goldfish in a fishbowl with all the heat being let in and no way for it to escape. The best thing about a sunroof is that you can leave it on tilt when you park the car so that the rising hot air in the car can escape before you get back to it. I've been doing it for years in my A2 and the internal temperature difference between leaving it closed and open in the sun when parked is amazing.

Iv'e been feeling a bit like a goldfish in a fishbowl!!

To be honest I wouldn't want all that glass without it opening..and it does have a lovely action!!

Took these pictures of my Yeti at the dealers when I took the film in for them to see:

The interior trim has been stripped out (and balanced on the seats!!) and the interior sprayed witrh chalk to catch the line of any drips.

Poor quality pics again..but a good shot of the back of the sun glasses holder!! Interesting to see all the gubbins behind the trims.

My new car....HELP!!

Now all it needs is someone to email Skoda UK and ask if all Yetis leak like that.

Cats and Pigeons come to mind.

Does yours leak too??

I was beginning to think mine was the only one with the 'Collander' option.

Another Update:

Skoda UK customer services contacted me on Friday..very reassuring, friendly and polite.

I was advised that a breakthrough was close with regard to finding the leak and the car would be put through extensive waster testing over the weekend.

Wonderful.

Later on in the day my wife was phoned by Beadles.(Yes..after a little prompting they now copntact US!! Very Good service!!)

My wife was told that the car would be kepk outside for the weekend as they were hoping for rain. The master technician was even looking for some ramps, as at home the Yeti is parked on a slight hill..nose up.

Now..that is what I call extensive water testing!! Amazing how mechanical practices can be jazzed up to give the impression of expertese!

They have now had the car for 16 days, and it didnt rain over the weekend.!

I will go there this week with a bucket and hose and find the leak myself. Sorry..I mean conduct my own extensive water tests.

I will call myself an 'Independent Aqua Technician', and my bucket a 'Precipitation Emulation Device'

The hose ..well, I may need that as a 'Managerial Irregation Appliance'

Levnclo

Well at least you've kept your sense of humour - now what could you use a pressure washer for - I've got some ideas but I dare not put them into print :giggle:

keep smiling

Hi levenclo - I misread your post. Mine is in fact completely leak free.

UPDATE:

6th July: Leak found...18 days at the dealers later!! It is from the front panel of the sunroof.

It was located using a hose rather than a jet wash.....

Skoda UK will cover the cost of repairing the dink above the drivers door that appeared after dealers in Eastbourne's attempt to look for the leak. Again..very good service..no quarrell and complete acknowledgement that this has all taken too long.

Now....what are the chances of a spare sunroof floating about in the Skoda parts warehouse?.......I wonder!!

I have not been given a date for the return of the vehicle!!

Not out of the woods yet....i

Regards to all,

Levnclo.

Why don't yo just put the Skoda guys in the back seat, and leave them locked inside in the car wash?

Because in the scheme of things a leaking sun roof may seem dramatic, but is nothing really worth worrying about.

Also..I'm sure they have access to this forum and know what a smacked bottom it is capable of giving!!

Looking forward to the Yeti's return.......

Hi Hi.

OK..

Received a phone call today from customer services, very pleasant chap.

Progress is as follows:

New sunroof is on order and expected soon. No delivery date was given.

The dink above the drivers door has been approved for repair but the Yeti will need to be booked into a body shop.

Can't really understand why that wasn't done when the car arrived at the dealers 19 days ago!!

The car requires new flooring carpets and these have been ordered directly from the Czech Republic as no spares are kept in this country. These, I was advised, will have to be made specially???

Hence..once the sunroof and dink have been repaired I can collect the Yeti, and then return it to have the floor replaced at a later date.

On the plus side..it is all getting done..the dealer and customer services are keeping me informed...what is there to gripe about??

On the negative side..I am paying for a brand new car which I have not been able to use for nearly three weeks because it was faulty...and there is always that nagging doubt that once pulled apart inside it may not all fit back together as seamlessly and rattle free as before??

Am I a Happy Driver?

I dont know at the moment because I can't drive my car!

Did Renault make a 4x4 Kangoo?

EXCELLENT news levnclo.

Time to hassle your dealer for compensation..............1st service FREE maybe due to inconvenience or how about a £150.00 Sainsbury's fuelcard (or tesco, Asda)

Whatever happens we will all be interested on the outcome emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

...............................And if you DO get a FREE fuelcard, we'll all be round to fill up our own tanks emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Good to hear that you nearing the end of your 'leak' saga - let's hope all is well when you get the SM back.

Thanks Ernieb.

I'm sure all will be well. I'm actually really missing it you know!

Not that I have ever driven it that much...Mrs Levnclo has the keys ...I drive the van.

Oh lucky me!!!

Did Renault make a 4x4 Kangoo?

I would not even dream of a Kangoo! I have done some work in the plant where they build it. It is the biggest pigsty of an assembly plant I have ever seen. I doubt it is possible to get a quality product out of there.

Did Renault make a 4x4 Kangoo?

Yes, they did. i had one in my practice for general duties, collecting pets, delivering meds, - and very competent it was too. It was economical, nippy, and rode the bumps up and down farm tracks with aplomb. The one BIG gripe I had was that the spare wheel was stored upright in the boot and stole about a third of the usable space. It was a good car for what we used it for, and withstood some pretty hashy driving. If the rear seats had tumbled like the Yeti it could have been even better.

Funny you mention the boot George,

Mrs Levnclo had a fit when she saw how much space the 'space saver' spare wheel took up in the Yeti. I ordered it as an option because I cannot imagine driving without one...I hadnt realised at all what it would do to the boot...silly me!!

As for Kangoos..pretty good and very economical cars..basic..full of character...full of storage..whole family plus luggage skiing in the Alps and still room to swing arms and legs inside! Exchanged one for the Yeti. It had a cloth sunroof which folded back the full length of the roof...and it NEVER leaked!!

Leaking Roof Update.

12th July.

Yeti has been at the dealer for 24 days.

I was contacted by the dealer on Friday at 6pm.

The good news.....The sunroof had been replaced!! Hurrah!! (Seems they are still available individually!!)

The bad news...The car still leaks!!...... and needs to be kept for more 'extensive water testing', or leaving out in the rain with the inside sprayed with chalk to trace the path of the drips (as we have discovered).

I phoned Customer Services this morning who were quick to get back to me. It seems the technicians are examining what may be a faulty drainage route which expells water from the roof. For a laugh see post No. 20 made on 14th June.

Skoda UK acknowledge the car has been away for too long and are keen to return it. It needs new interior carpets, and a dink in the roof which appeared after the first leak examination (at a different dealers) is to be repaired. As the carpets are a special order and the car has not yet been booked into a body shop it has been suggested that the car will be returned and finished at a later date, which is, I suppose, fair enough.

As a gesture of goodwill, Skoda UK have offered to pay for the first service. (I did not ask for this and would have preffered a firm date for the Yeti's return!)

I still have no date for return , despite pressing for this.

I guess this is good service? I did like my Yeti you know..lovely colour. Drove it to Suffolk once. What really stings is that my father in law, a Lexus driver, said, "That is what you get for driving a car that is pretending to be something it isn't."

I'm so glad this forum exists to prove he is wrong, without it, I would be beginning to have doubts.....
