(Feeler) Sound Deadening Material Group Buy

Featured Replies

NOTE: This is currently only a FEELER for a group buy.

Based on the fact that a good number of Octy users are seeing issues with noise from the rear of the car, that seems to be improved by application of sound deadening material to areas of the boot and spare wheel well, I'm thinking of doing a group buy on the stuff.

I'm still to work out the exact details, but am speaking with a couple of places.

The most promising currently looks like this stuff (Ignore the pricing shown there):

http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=ALSDM5

Obviously I'll post more details as and when it's appropriate.

So if you're interested in principle, then if you put your name down below and if it was the linked stuff how many sheets you would like (Multiples of 5)

Obviously the standard disclaimers apply:

1) There is no certainty that this GB will go ahead.

2) The organiser, BRISKODA and it's Staff are exempt from any legal liability if problems arise from the buy.

This buy is not an offical BRISKODA organised buy and therefore BRISKODA or it's Staff, CANNOT be held responsible for any wrong doing that may occur.

Feel free to start a list up and I'll see what I can do.

Sign me up, I'll take 3 if the price is good....

How many do you reckon you need to fully do an octavia?

i'd be interested in however many packs are needed to do the rear of an octavia estate :)

pass, if you measure W * L of the boot and we can take a guess.

I did some comparison on the market and the StP looks like to be best value for money.

Autoleads one is 22.47 / 8.3sq f = £2.7/ sq f. (£3.07 / sq f bought individually)

StP Gold bulk pack is £119.99 / 42.79 sq. f. = £2.8 / sq. f

StP Silver bulk pack is £94.99 / 42.79 sq.f = £2.22 / sq f.

Dynamat Xtreme bulk pack £219.99 / 36.05 sq. f = £6.10 / sq f

For the octavia estate I used for the doors + boot nearly 2 dynamat bulk packs (2 layers on each doors). Now I'm looking for something with the same quality but cheaper as dynamat is too expensive :)

Do you know something more abut AUTOLEAD one?

Do they have as well any acoustic experience or labs or just let other to do something for them and put their name on it?

I'll be keeping an eye on this - but price depending should be interested.

Most likely after just the 1 pack, unless the price drops a lot.

I would be interested. Looking to do the boot, spare wheel well and back seat area.

What would be the logistics? Would we have to pick up from one point?

I will have to do some measuring to work out the area.

It's up to organizer and seller. Maybe it would be possible to ship it straight over to people and don't pay delivery cherges twice.

Are there any deals arrangements as yet or you want to wait to get some more people?

I'd be interested in this pending cost as not sure of requirements.

Well I found I know somebody that works at a distributor, so I'll be talking more to them as that saves delivery from them to me.

Most vendors are not interested in posting to the end user and them having to deal with lots of customers, so for a bulk discount it would have to be a case of me shipping it out to you guys.

As I said before, the prices shown on that site are not the prices I'm looking at.

I won't really have a hard price until I have a level of interest that makes it to a bulk order, as opposed to a couple of packs, purely because it isn't worth the companies while.

One place I spoke to wasn't interested for less than a £500 order.

So if you're interested add your name to the list, I'll check back in a week or so, and if there is enough interest I'll speak more to the vendors and if not then I'll close the thread at that time.

1) M0BOV - 1 pack

2) Keith Lard - 3 pack

3) TriggerFish - 1 pack

which product are you talking about?

I spoke before to gents from StP and they were ok to send any item to the me.

It shouldn't be any problem with anyone. That's weird if they don't wont to do business.

I'm talking to a manufacturer/distributor for Autoleads and dynamat.

They don't usually sell the the public and don't want the hassle of dealing with individuals.

I'm quite happy to let you run an StP one and I'll close this, as it saves me a lot of effort.

Dynamat is the most expensive, Autolead is company which is buying goods of others so it's hard to say who did it for them, that's why advised by friend I started looking at StP and I found their new UK distributor.

You can contact them yourself on [email protected] or order can be placed through the website. I don't want to be unfair and appreciate your effort and don't want to take it off you as you started this topic and doing fine cooperating with the others.

I need to decide to keep the car and sound proof it or change it for larger estate. Then I will consider level of sound deadening as from my experience it's worth it's money.

Don't get me wrong I had my car completely sound proofed with Dynamat previously and I have to admit it done it's job great but now we can all get same results cheaper.

By the way has anyone seen any sound proofing products comparison? That might be interesting...

Again, price wise it depends on how far up the chain to get, as to how much profit margin you cut out.

I have already sound proofed my car, with a combination of dynamat xtreme (at a much lower price than above) and cloud9 to make enough of a difference that I won't be adding any more.

It was a good will thing with me looking at what prices I could get, that would do the job of damping the noise down, without going through to excessive cost.

The suggestion of various alternative products by people means that I'd have to talk to a greater number of suppliers, with all the haggling this involves. As such this would consume far more time than I have to give.

Due to this I'm going to give my apologies and close the Feeler without taking it further due to this.

Can one of the Mods, please close the thread down as this is no longer running.
