Have checked on the Ross site and a few of them dont seem to pull anything up??????

Now I think im disregarding the secondry air ones as I had issues with the relay a while back which a replacement relay sorted but I never cleared the fault

Also disregarding 17705 check DV as I did have a atmospheric DV but now got a recirculating one now (not sure if I cleared the fault code LOL )

If and when car acts up again I will scan it and see what it comes up with as I have cleared all codes, but in the mean time what do you think could be happening??

Thanks in advance folks

Temp sensor sounds like it could be borked if your having hot start issues :)

yep, I'm with fatty - presumably when you say "won't start" you mean it cranks over but won't fire?

That is classic faulty coolant sensor behaviour, starts fine when cold but can be a bitch when it's hot. You will probably find that it will start eventually with a good puff off black smoke due to overfuelling, then once running will be fine.

Usually it won't set a fault either, because the value that the ECU reads is in range but just miles away from where it should be for the temperature it's at. Neither will the temperature gauge read incorrectly, as there are two discreet sensor elements in the one housing, one for ECU and one for the guage.

If you have the early black coloured coolant temp sensor then it's worth changing anyway for the later green one for the price.

thanks

anyone got on location of sensor? and a part number?

Cheers

OK found it on the car but its a green one so presuming its the updated/upgraded one, is it likely to be this at fault still?

well ordered sensor today with delievery for tomorrow.

Only thing is now car started fine this morning drove it parked up at 10.00 went back to it at 13.30 wouldnt start tried it again turned over but wouldnt fire so took Fabia instead, got back at 17.30 tried it again turned over but wouldnt fire walked to the pub for dinner instead. Tried again at 20.00hours and it started first turn of the key.

Question is would the coolant temp sensor still be at fault?

Only difference I can see is it was in direct sunlight and sitting full on in it at 13.30 and 17.30 and it was bloomin hot but at 20.00 it was in the shade and alot cooler??????

As Rich says it all about temps So technically if the engine is hot then yes. Mine has staying warm for ages these last few days and if the sunlight is on the bonnet I guess that would keep it toasty all day.

Maybe that but don't hold me to it lol

Have you checked if the codes have come back again?

Theres a lot of electrical ones there, which could have possibly been to do with the relay you said you changed in which case they should go away and not come back. However, if they've come back then it sounds like there's still an electrical problem somewhere. I would have said if it's not even cranking then you need to check the earthing strap between the battery and the chassis, and the cable between the battery and starter motor. Disconnect them and clean off any corrosion from where they are connected.

well this is what I got today, anyone any ideas what some of these codes are cause the ross tech site dont recognise them

I still think you've got an electrical problem somewhere... there are 4 different circuits shorting there. The heat could be causing something to expand and touch a wire causing these shorting issues.
