Featured Replies

Here in Russia we have got pretty much common problem when door handle kind of rubs door and remove manufacturer paint from door.

On the picture it looks like grey line

Yes. I have got that "candy white" yeti but on the picture not mine(i'm in UK now) but from St. Petersburg

Tom, What is the reason for you question?

Actually Skoda has local factory in Russia. But for Yeti it is only "large-scale assembling" when all parts came from Czech and Skoda-Russia manufacturer only assemble it to vehicle.

I do know some examples when doors was set up incorrectly. So for this bug just try to understand is that a vehicle problem or just Skoda-Russia bug...

I've got a reply from dealer regarding that problem:

"

Factory(russian) knows about such problem and will prepare TPI.

Dealers will start fixing when will receive that document.

"

BTW: first time problem was reported June, 10

I've reported June,14

Never seen this happen on any of the Yeti's I have had the pleasure of repairing or on my own car.

On mine it's probably down to the fact that I clean my car "constantly", I doubt if this would happen unless dirt/dust got caught between the handle and the door skin/paint, but on the other side, it would be unreasonable to expect all Yeti drivers to clean their car all the time to avoid paint being rubbed of it's body..

I doubt that this is caused by the fact that the Russian sold Yeti's might be assembled in Russia.

:S

Wonder what the TPI will say... ? Once the damage is done (paint worn trough to primer) the only solution would be to have the door painted, and I don't see that happening on lot's of cars..

That is definitely because handle touch door not because of dirty on the car :)

I had double checked that handle rubs door. And dealer did confirm that then.

Well I've been out to the garage and managed to get a photo of one of the handles on mine, appears to be OK

Difficult to tell from photo's but would you say the handle is set further back in the recess :wonder:

There is a lot of good natured discussion on this forum regarding the best colour. White has a vociferous following.

It is also a play on words, a White Russian is a very nice cocktail.

Doesn't the warranty covers paint for at least 3 years?

I don't own one but in the documentation i have from the salesman it specifies it covers for 3 years.

So, no resonance here means only one - that is our local Skoda factory assemble issue.

Warranty covers paint, but what I've got from dealer right now (non - officially) - Door Handles can't be adjusted by dealer. Assume that Skoda Auto Russia doesn't want to change whole doors on thousands of vehicles.

Will inform you if you are interesting in results.

PS: Sanqhar need to try White Russian some day. And you can find my blonde in the "Yeti - Forum Members Picture Thread" ;)

Here is photos from Finland and this Yeti is made in Czech factory :( Our dealer was two other Yeti in the hall and both had the same problem.

I noted the same problem on my SM... but seems to be present only on the front doors.

But I'm sure that if I go to my dealer he will say "that's not a problem and there isn't any to fix".

:(

Just checked my UK spec car and the door handles sit quite a bit further out than shown in the pictures where there appears to be paint damage.

I guess that gaskets or washers have either been omitted or fitted the wrong way round on cars affected. Judging by the photos, I reckon that the diffence is at least 3 or 4mm!

Hi!

That's interesting! I just checked my car, and I can also see some small scrathes just in front of the handle. It's not nearly as bad as on the pics from Karvis, but still clearly visible.

Do you think you could post some close-up pictures of your door handle to help us solve this with the local dealers.

Mine too :(

Same situation here!

Our Yeti in now only three weeks old and there already are some scratches/marks on the driver's door :wonder: It seems the air gap between the handle and the door is much bigger in the rear doors and because of this the handle never touches the door there.

Anything new on this topic?

This seems to be quite a common problen in Finland where there is much disussion going on about this in a local Yeti forum, and this problem apparently only affects LHD cars (Comments from Russia and Denmark, but the British cars seems to be OK). Could any one of you that don't have this rubbing problem post pictures of the door handle so we could see the difference and give us some more detailed info for discussions with dealers.

Sorry for the delay. I have been waiting to upgrade my membership.

Here goes with the pictures of the door handles fitted 'correctly'!

yup mine are well away too...

I just came to think of one thing - what if this problem is related to the left hand side front door instead of the drivers door?? Any RHD owners that would care to check?

At least in Finland there is info out on a local Yeti forum that this problem has already been sent to the manufacturer, and that there should be a fix available - no info about the fix, and the dealers doesn't seem to know anything either.

Hello Raz,

I have looked carefully at my SM. Both the front door handles have the rubbing problem, but not as bad as shown in the various pictures. It seems tha back doors are the same, but as they do not get used as much as the front, it is not reallý apparent there.

I assume that you will post if there is a repair fix that gets to be official? The Danish importer is not too forthcoming with any such fixes.

Hi!

I just called and booked a time at my local dealer to get this fixed - unfortunately the first available time was September 1st, so I (we) will have to wait until then to see what the possible solution could be. At least the service manager seemed to be avare of the problem and have a solution which was sort of a relief.
