Wish me luck!

Wish me luck people.

I'm off tomorrow hopefully to look at a Muscavado SE 140bhp 4x4 ex-demonstrater.

Of course Sod's Law has arrived and the Freelander is playing up, with a dodgy injector!!! Still at 82k I've never replaced anything yet.

Good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Iknow the feeling with things going wrong on current cars as our CMax has just needed new engine sensors and turbo pipe, it only had to last a few more weeks until delivery of our SM (currently sitting somewhere in Europe awaiting a boat to the UK)

Who said cars don't know whats going on :giggle: n

Have a good day tomorrow Llanigraham, bet you end up buying it :D

Well done Graham - you go for it. You've been on the Elan Valley run with all of us so you know intimately how they all work.

I think it is great that you have (finally) decided, er, em, um, to er, actually GO and SEE the beast with a view to owning - and yer Missus is with you all the way!!

George

PS - might try your folk club open mic one Thursday!

That's nothing, I once agreed to PX a "wreck" of a Ford Escort as I described it. The morning of the exchange I found someone had crashed into it and taken off a quarter of the front wing, and it wouldn't start. My neighbour towed me to the garage at the top of our road and I freewheeled down the slope of their forecourt, parked it and exchanged the keys for my "new" car. A lovely white Austin Allagro with the square steering wheel. To my surprise they said nothing about it.

Believe me they were so pleased to get rid of the ARGRO you could have traded in a wheel barrow

DAMN!! :dull:

No reply to my email about the car so I rang the dealer.

No "off-road button" or "rough road package" fitted, but it does have full towbar prep.

Can't get over there today as I'm having to look after the shop whilst Sheila is busy elsewhere, and I'm working for the next 3 days. I have promised to ring them Monday morning, so hope that no-one buys it over the weekend.

Can't you put a deposit down???

Possibly, but I need to know how much they will give me for the Freelander, so that I can work out some finances.

If things don't work out there then Sinclair Swansea's current demonstrator is a Steel Grey 140 SE 4x4 with both Off-Road button and Rough-Road pack. No towbar prep though as far as I recall...

Might give them a ring, especially as I prefer that colour.

Just emailed them asking when/if it will be available.

Hi Graham

Sales manager at Swansea is Andy Shorland and he's a good guy who says "I'd rather make a fiver than 95% of nothing", so he's open to real meaningful negotiation. You go for it, cos we need you to lead another adventure IN YOUR OWN YETI!!

G

yea and i,ll travel down for the next adventure...if 2wd are allowed and capable  ...steel/platin grey is my choice too great colour

Thanks for the name George, I might try and give him a ring if I get 5 minutes at work tomorrow, especially as they haven't replied to my email.

Just got off the phone to Sinclair's and their demo is currently for sale, so they are emailing me the figures today.

So......do I want a

Muscavado 140 SE 4x4 with no off-road button or rough road package, but with tow bar prep (from Faintree)

or

Whatever Silver 140 SE 4x4 with off-road button, etc, but no tow bar prep?

Both dealers are about the same distance from home, and I'm off Monday to Thursday afternoon. Think I can see a trip to Swansea, somehow.

Looking on Ebay I can get a Weller or Westphalia tow bar for less than £175 plus electrics which I can get my local "man" to fit then just need the electrics reprogramming

Decisions, decisions!!!

My money would go with the Off-Road button as it does so much when activated.

When I bought "Betty", the OR button was just £80 which suggests that it "should" be an easy retrofit as all the bits and bobs must be on the car already. I guess that my £80 bought a button and wiring, fitting and a second ECU program that is activated. Even so the result is worth it especially if you fit suitable tyres.

Go for the one with the Off road button. The whole tow bar thing is easy enough to do afterwards but the Off road button "might" be easy but then it might also be a nightmare as yours will be the first anyone has done...

Well, after much thought and deliberation, we are off to Faintree Motors tomorrow afternoon so that Sheila can have a drive, and to see what they can sort out on the money side.

Having thought about it, the only thing that I am likely to use the Off-Road button for is the hill descent control, and I don't think I've used the Freelander HDC system more than half a dozen times in the last 6 years. Everything else it does I can do or is covered elsewhere in the system.

Paul has said that all I need to fit is the towbar and final connections, so that isn't too bad. They have taken the old towbar off to fit to their new demo, unfortunately. They did enquire about retro fitting the button, but SUK say that it is not possible.

More news tomorrow evening.

Phew!! I'm glad that's all sorted!

Enjoy, when you get it.

Mine has done 8500 and, for the first time, I clocked 48 mpg on a trip to Bangor. I only mention this as the MPG figure has been slowly improving with the mileage. You will have the newer engine so should expect better figures than this.

I have also filled up with the "new" Shell Diesel. The claim is for better consumption and so on. So watch this space.

I've seen the signs at local (and not so local) Shell forecourts - "New more efficient fuels" - then in smaller print "coming soon".

Has the new fuel been released yet ?

nice one Llanigraham  ...i got my baby yesterday....i love it  .....
