VCDS Lite question

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia VRS LE and just wanna turn on my phone book on the columbus (maybe even the second Fog light), and possibly turn on the voice control function. Does anyone know if you can do this with the VCDS Lite and one of those cables on eBay? Can't really justify the full on system just for this.

Any help appreciated.

Can you give me the 7&8 digits of the VIN? I need to know which Octavia and model year to comment. My guess is that VCDS-Lite is not compatible with your vehicle because VCDS-Lite and the wires on eBay do not support CAN diagnostics - only the full genuine Ross-Tech systems support CAN.

I'm sure that people on this forum would be glad to assist you for a few beers if you ask them.

I think you are right Bruce as the car is a 2.0 litre vRS which means A5 platform.

Hi, 7th & 8th digits of the vin number are 1Z

I was rather expecting this would be the case.

Tried contacting a couple of local members but no responses as yet.

Click on their profile and see when they were "Last Active" as some members do not frequent the boards very often - others are never off!! :giggle:

Yes 1Z is A5 platform and CAN.

Where are you?

For future reference... ;)

Directly on the first VAG-COM/VCDS page in our online shop system you'll find the VCDS World Spec Compatibility Charts for all non-US models for information regarding which interface will work with your model.

That should give you straight answers what systems support which models and which are best for your specific vehicle. However, to sum things up - if you want to be ready for your future VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda and be able to work on other cars than your Skoda Octavia (1Z) the HEX+CAN systems will be optimal. If its just your Skoda Octavia (1Z) you plan working on, than the Micro-CAN system will do the trick.
