Scout LED DRL Pics

Featured Replies

Thanks for the pics. I've gone for this option on my MY2011 Scout I've had on order for about 6 weeks. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but the photos make it look like the DRLs are angled to point slightly outwards rather than straight ahead?

I think it's just the angle of the photo but i'll have a look later. Ideally the car would have been further back.

Is it dimmed (sidelights) or DRL on that photo?

Looks too much like fog lights IMO :(

Only the DRL's on.

Perhaps the photo does not represent them too well. They are a very bright white light nothing like the flat beam of a foglight. Personally I like em but like or loath everyone is going to have them sooner or later.

If you cant beat 'em then join 'em :giggle:

I can't help feeling you're just going to look like you're driving with your fog lights on..

I don't like the idea of DRL in place of fog lights.(confuses other drivers)I also would not like to lose my Fogs.

I have fitted DRL,s in honeycomb next to fogs, they come on with ignition and I have a relay to switch off DRL's when dip headlights are on.

I think DRL,s are a good idea for safety reasons.

My Scout is only 2 months old.

If it is not too late I would change to fogs if I were you.

I like it! Can you provide a guide for how you made this modification, what parts you used etc?

BTW, is that Cappuccino Beige? I'm hoping so, because that's the colour I've ordered and it looks very nice in your photos.

I prefer my oem lights. Are yours turned on in the pic ? Not bothered at all about losing the fogs. I can only ever remember usung them once. Ever.

Thanks for the diagram Bob. I do like your modification, but with my build date set for next week (week 30), I really don't want to screw things up by changing my spec at this late stage.

On the other hand, if I get a call in week 31 telling me my build has been pushed back to week 45 or something, then I might well give this a go.

If you left the DLR switched off you may be mistaken for an unmarked Police car emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Out of interest where did you pick up the Ignition On feed from?

and technically speaking that's a SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) relay, not Double Pole Single Throw emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

So that is why cars slow down when I get behind thememoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif .

They come on with the ignition by law so you can't switch them off ,side or dip switches them off automatically.

You are right it is SPDT (my dislexia), a single pole would also do if it was n/c in the off position.

I just tested in the loom to find a live ignition on, can't remember where exactly..
