new vRS collected

Featured Replies

Picked up my new vRS TDi on Friday - had a couple of very pleasurable days driving it around!

Specs:

- 2.0 CR TDi vRS

- MY2011

- Candy white

- maxidot

- rear parking sensors

- auto mirror/wiper/lights

- full size spare wheel

Pretty impressed after a few days and a couple of hundred miles. Seems to be enough grunt when you need it, yet it pootles nicely down the motorway. Bolero is a real surprise, it's actually quite decent - plays SD cards with no delay whatsoever. Mats were standard.

Big-up to Sinclair Skoda in Swansea, who were superb throughout, managing to source the car in just 3 weeks (was expecting 12!).

Some quick snaps:

Nice looking car and glad it came so quick. Sinclair Swansea really pulled that out of the bag for you. Are the pics taken on Gower? Looks like Rhossilli to me but could be wrong.

Yeah was very pleased with Sinclair, really good to deal with.

Rhossili? Yes!! You can just about spot the Worms Head in the background of the last picture. Picked the car up from Sinclairs lunchtime, so had an excellent afternoon/evening motoring around Gower.

Thanks for all your comments - it does look good in white. But also good in silver, grey sorry anthracite, black, yellow. Just not sure about blue

By the time I got to Rhossili it must have been around 6.15pm. Fortunately the horrible little man on the car park entrance had packed up and gone home. By then the sun was out and it was lovely - lots of people walking around - a very pleasant early evening.

When you say full size spare...do you mean a 16" steel?

Just about to buy a VRS and the salesman says they only come with space savers :S

You are correct you can only order a space saving wheel with the VRS. However, a member has put a full sized alloy in the spare wheel holder without an issue. So it can be done just not direct from the factory.

Yes - to my surprise it came with a steel spare wheel, as requested. I was expecting to be told only a spacesaver could be specified. I don't know the build week of the car, but it is definitely MY11, so not sure when they stopped allowing steel spares to be specified.

Got my new Black VRS 2.0TSI yesterday I too ordered a spare and it arrived with a steel wheel with a Continental SprintContact 205/55 R16 and all the jack etc.

So that's still technically a space saver as it is not the same width as the standard tyres...but presumably you can exceed 80kph.

Is it still technically illegal to use a space saver (mixing tyres of different sizes on the same axle)?

Nice in white emoticon-0148-yes.gif

My Choices for order were 1) White 2) Anthracite Grey 3) Silver.

Seeing all the peoples here ordering white, and found out that virtually all the company cars @ SUK are white decided not to as the SUK ones will hit the market & resale may be a bit more difficult.

Dealer had 2 second hand Octys in Anthracite Grey and it was just a tad too dark a colour that I wanted.

Silver ordered, as I think White & Black will be the most popular colours & the silver will hide the muck a bit longer emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif.

Still think the white looks really nice when clean.

Are you sure about that? I've read that while yes, you can just fit the alloy with tyre in, the fact that the tyre is so wide means that it protrudes above the level of the well, leaving you with a big bump in the boot floor cover.

It's not a space saver, the rolling radius is almost identical to the 18" alloy, and (iirc) that wheel/tyre combo is used on other Octavias as standard.

Yes I am sure, the member took a picture and it did not protrude above the level of the well. It was a tight fit but was completely flush with floor.

The 16" steel wheel is classed as a space saver and this is what you get when you order a space saver wheel with the VRS.
