It probably can using the generic OBDII function, this is only available using a genuine Ross Tech lead and the later versions of the software.

For 2008 and newer CAN based cars, the answer is yes. Generic OBDII scan should work.

Prior to 2008, it depends on which flavor of OBDII the OE used, There are two methods out there and VCDS only supports the method used by VW/Audi. We never intended VCDS to be a generic OBD scanner but when VW/Audi began using the generic OBD information in their tech bulletins and so on, we added the capability so that users of VCDS could follow the tech info published by VW.

Thanks Bruce, Thatll be my problem, its a 2006 Scenic, when I connect up it says that it is not OBDII Compatible.
