De-badging rear?

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a picture of a de-badged fabia? Have looked but can't find one. They are all just stuck on?

Hi mate,

The centre badge when removed reveals 2 small holes which would have to be filled

and painted in. All the others are just stuck on.

Use an old credit card to remove the badges and I hear wd40 works well on removing the gum.

Personally I used white spirit and elbow grease..... :p

I took all the badges off and replaced the centre one for a black one... B)

Voila...

Black one looks nice! Is that top brake light strip green?

anyone seen them fat transformer badges on the old fleabay?, they look bloody thick metal - might sound stupid but I think it would look cool on the back in place of the skoda badge lol

Transformer Badge

or

Large Transformer Badge

I'll probably get shot for suggesting that lol.

De-badged then re-badged with a retro skoda badge from the bonnet grille of a pre '93 favorit. Oh, and a few stickers for the CZ trip in 2007 :giggle:

Your Rear Wiper mate, Is that off a Mark V Golf? My oldman's Golf Plus has the same Wiper as that - looks smart but don't you find it wipes less of the screen?

Polo mate. :)

easy to swap over?

Unbolt and pull old one off, replace polo one and bolt back on.

I want to completely debadge the rear. Rear wipers already gone, fabia and VRS badge too.

If you don't mind me asking....how much did it cost too fill and repaint the top half? (PM me if you like)

Cheers

Cost was circa £70 to £80 from memory. I may have had it done as a package. Anyone who charges more than £100 is ripping you off as its only an area about 20cm high and 1 metre across. The filling is easy. Couple of 2p coins glued on holes from inside, fill and smooth off, then paint. :)

Didn't think it would be too much. Cheers

What's the black badge on the first pic mate? on the black vRS? I really like that...

isnt it the one on the engine cover??

Main dealer, £7 or thereabouts. 1ZO 103 940 D is the part number.

And yes it is an engine cover badge from the earlier vRS's.

Later ones have a silver/black/green engine cover badge like you'd see front and rear

on the exterior.

The black ones do need fettling and bending a bit to make them fit, and you will need some

very decent doublesided tape to stick it on. I have them front and rear and am very happy with the look

Other way round I think, earlier ones have colour engine badges and newer ones have the black one.

My 2007 vRS has the black badge on engine cover,

Thanks for all the pics guys, it's been a great help, but has got me thinking even more lol. I wanted to take the Skoda badge off too, but cant be arsed with having to fill the holes and get the car sprayed, so that one will be staying.

This all stems from the other thread for the resin badges, was going to order some of the chequered Skoda Motorsport badges, but I like the look of the black/silver badge from the '93 Favorii on masterff's car, that looks nice and discreet and goes well with the silver.

So that leaves me with a slight dilema! Have narrowed it down to these...

silver ones on the right, but worry the silver might not be a good match

Are these too fussy? (but I do like them a lot and I think they have an oem look to them)

These look very oem and I think will have a similar effect as misterff's

Fair enough, I wasn't certain TBH but either way that is the part number for the black one.

My local main dealer ordered me the wrong thing twice so I took a note of the part number

when he got it right. Good job too as I ordered another a couple of weeks later for the rear. ;)

My main issue with the "proper" badges was due to the clear laminate over the chrome.

A couple of stone chips and before you know it theres a water bubble in the badge. :(

They are expensive to replace too. I don't know how the black badges will hold up to salt, ice,

uv rays and crud that they will inevitably have to suffer. But so far so good,

I suppose they are designed to withstand the heat of the engine bay so I guess they are fairly hardy.

Yup, mine are really bad, look awful, same has happened to my ford too.
