In a jam with traffic announcements - help!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have a Skoda Fabia 1.4 "Bohemia" '55 Estate and am having issues with the Skoda stereo which came with the car. The stereo is a Skoda Symphony with CD. Traffic Announcements are on - I want to turn them OFF permanently, but nothing I do seems to have this effect. I can't find anything in the instruction manual which tells you how to turn them OFF, and they keep interrupting my CDs and driving me mad! Can anyone help?!

press the TP button?

Thanks for these suggestions. I have tried pressing the TP button many times, and in many different combinations. If I hold the button down, it goes into the setup menu. If I press it once, it does not get rid of the TP icon and traffic announcements are still on. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

If I remember correctly I think you have to scroll through the set up menu to turn them off? I don't remember for sure as I've got an aftermarket radio in now. Something to have a go with! If this doesn't work, then just button bash ;)

I had the same probs, so I just press the AS button and that re-tunes and gets rid of the Traffic info.

When TP is showing at the top left of the display this indicates that the station is broadcasting TP info - not that TP is actually on.

The set has five wavebands - 2 AM and 3 FM. (Switch between AM and FM by holding down the A/F button).

In FM pressing A/F briefly switches between FM1 and FM2 - neither will have TP activated (though the symbol might still be in the top left).

Pressing TP switches the waveband to the TP range, which puts TP on - TP appears large in the bottom left instead of FM1/FM2. So if you want to turn TP off the simple action is pressing A/F briefly to get to FM1 or FM2.

When playing CDs you have to ensure the radio is set to FM1 or FM2 (or AM) to obviate the announcements interrupting...

No - there's nothing in the set-up menu (accessed by holding down TP for a few seconds) in this connection apart from setting the TA volume.

Pressing the A/F button once has solved the problem. It is bizarre that this is not included in the instruction manual anywhere. Thank you so much for helping.
