Have had the oem bluetooth retrofitted for a couple of months and it has been great. I've not long had my VCDS and notices whilst trying to get another retrofit to work i've got faults on my BT.

I have had a search on the web and it looks like the antenna fault is because i'm using a cheap chinese one.

Not sure about the other 3.

Had no issues with the BT been working fine. Found out the coding was incorrect changed it from 0010037 to 0020227 and now all the fault codes have gone.

Hi Olly,

I'm looking into retro-fitting BT to my Columbus fitted Octavia at the moment. I've searched every forum on BT coding and have found a lot of conflicting info. What coding info did you get?

Mainly interested in where your code 2 under 'Communication Type' came from.

Any info would be appreciated as I don't want to end up with a half a*sed installation with a 'nearly but not quite' compatible module.

According to VCDS the coding is as follows:

00?0xxx: Communication Type

0 = Display-Data-Protocol (DDP)

1 = Operating and Display Protocol (BAP)

00x0?xx: Installation List

1 = Diagnostics via CAN

2 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel, Diagnostics via CAN

3 = Head Unit (e.g. RNS-E), Diagnostics via CAN

4 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel, Head Unit (e.g. RNS-E), Diagnostics via CAN

00x0x?x: Language (Voice Control)

0 = Voice Control OFF OR via external Device (e.g. RNS-E)

1 = German

2 = English (UK)

3 = French

4 = Italian

5 = Spanish

6 = Czech

7 = English (US)

8 = French (CA)

9 = Speaker dependent (Voice Commands inactive, Acoustic Name Selection active)

00x0xx?: Language (Display)

0 = No Display

1 = German

2 = English (UK)

3 = French

4 = Italian

5 = Spanish

6 = Czech

7 = English (US)

8 = French (CA)

Mine is the GSMIII rSap model so my coding is different from the coding you have posted. What model are you getting?

It's a toss up between the newer 1Z0 035 729E or the older 1Z0 035 729B.

I have a pre FL car with a 3T0 RNS510 with FW 2764. So as I understand it with the 1Z0 035 729E I can have all the functionality except Maxidot or with the 1Z0 035 729B I can have Maxitot but risk having issues with the RNS510 not displaying the phone functions correctly.

Having done a lot of research here and on other sites I think the obvious answer is to get the 1Z0 035 729E, keep the RNS510, and chuck out the pre FL Octavia! Either that or give up on the whole idea, put the Stream back in, and blow the dust of my Tom Tom 730.

Best Regards,

Mark
