Fabia Heat Output

Featured Replies

Does the internal heating system output change according to the external or internal temperature?

My old astra would be hot enough to burn your hand if you left it over a vent on hot in summer or winter. When I tested the Fabia's heating system for this winter the vents were warm, but not uncomfortably warm and I was wondering whether there is a fault or whether it's by design to prevent over heating the interior when it's unnecessary? How does everyone else’s Fabia's work?

The coolant temperature is fine, it takes a few minutes to work it's way up to 90 degrees and stays there. The heating system does change from unheated air to heated air but it's just not the amount of heat I was expecting. The car has recently been fully serviced and the pollen filter is clean and I've vaccumed out the plastic mesh below the air circulation and a/c button on the dash.

Cheers...

It's automatic in a primitive way. It only has a few sensors, but it does try it's best to hold the temperature indicated on the little dial. Usually you can set it and forget it. If you want maximum cold or hot turn the dial all the way left or right.

Do you know where the sensors are located? I am assuming there is one behind the plastic mesh that I vacuumed out? I did use maximum cold and maximum hot, maximum cold was definitely unheated air, but maximum hot was only slightly warmed air. Which makes me think either there is a problem with the heater, or that they just don't output very hot air by design, or that the heat output even at maximum is controlled by sensors somewhere and it didn't feel the need to output very hot air because it was already near this temperature.

I guess I will find out what it's really like in the winter, but as the car is still under warranty I just wanted to check that it all works OK now before the warranty runs out...

There are two sensor. The outside temp sensor is located behind the bumper. The interior sensor is located on the right hand side of the heater facia panel behind the flap position dial.

Mine goes pretty damn warm when i need it to!
