I have to say that I was not expecting (or trying not to expect) much with all the recent hype over the Yeti. But I am very pleasantly surprised.

I was worried everyone would say it was fantastic and then it would only be good.

The only thing I have yet to adapt to is the gearbox, it seems to drop out of gear while you are waiting with your foot on the brake and takes half a second(ish) to drop back into gear when you release the brake pedal, which can lead to jerky starts if you are straight on the accelerator. It's the DSG box with a 1.2 petrol engine.

Overall, it's a very gdod car for the price. We like the styling (as does everyone who has seen it today), the smoothness and the space. Well done Skoda!

That is standard DSG. when the foot is on the brake it cuts the drive when at idle.

You get used to it. It doesn't take the car out of gear, just disengages the clutch like putting your foot down on the clutch in a manual, therefore it takes a fraction of a second to engage. (feels like ages)

You will find it hesitates when you approach a juction, intending to stop then decide to carry on. it will take a seeming age to change down to 1st then you will feel like you are in the wrong gear - if you were in a manual you would be in 2nd all the time. But in saying that, doesn't the Rangy do the same thing - my old tourings - 530d did and my 523i did it as well. You don't get the creep of 'normal' autos, which can take a bit of getting used to. I was given a micra 1.2 auto as a courtesy car a while back and it took loads of effort to keep it stationary!

I have covered around 40,000 miles in my old DSG equipped Octy and loved it. I thought the gearbox was better the the 5 series BM's.

I always found the best way to move off was take foot off brake then accelerate.

Skoda doesn't give us launch control like the Golf GTi DSG (or any normal auto).

No the Range Rover is old tech compared to the Yeti... :o

Standard 5 speed auto that tries to drag you forward with all the torque unless you cover the brake well. So it's always in gear and has less to choose from, rarely drops to first unless you stop.

Sorry. ;):giggle:

Posted mine here as I didn't want to take over your other thread.

Have to say I realy like the colour. Suits the car very well as something that's a bit different to the norm and stands out.

Another fine looking Corrida Red monster. Enjoy

Thanks. Fox is the name of the family business, so we've all got our initials, the year's reg ID and then FOX, other than the RR in the background. :)

If you compared new for new, you'd have to say it made the RR seem extremely overpriced at 4 times the cost. But compared to mine which is 5 years it's not so bad.

The ride is very smooth on the Yeti though, and it corners a lot better.

It's also a lot easier to find a parking space where you can open the doors with the Yeti!

Overall, there is not a great deal between them. I am very impressed with the Yeti. Just got to get used to the DSG.

Nice colour. Enjoy the new car CT 17!

Considered the Range Rover Sport, Freelander HSE, Q5, X1 and Tiguan R Line to name but a few on my journey to choosing the Yeti. As an all rounderer on price, size, performance, mpg, CO2 the SM was a hard act to beat. Availability seems to be the only real problem. I keep being told week 41 for a build but can not be confirmed until about 2 weeks before (Week 39) so the wait continues. I'm hoping to have the same positive experience as those who have been fortunate to acquire one already. Good luck with yours and keeps us informed of your overall impression as a new owner.
