Control System for Exhaust Gases

Featured Replies

Just as a Reference to those who may encounter this problem, I thought I would start a new thread all of it's own & maybe an idea for a sticky or add it to an existing. There have been a number of posts on this forum about this issue but some are covering other issues too, but proves how excellent the Briskoda Forums are!

I had the "Control System for Exhaust Gases" warning lamp appear on my dash yesterday, I knew full well that it could not be down to the re-generation issues that some may have because of the mileage I cover (& the way I drive) therefore, i thought it must something more sinister. After a couple of hours tinkering about this problem escalated into the car going into 'Limp' Mode limiting the engine to 3000RPM.

I then scoured these forums in the hope that I would find some information & sure enough stumbled upon a couple of posts, one of which was this one.

Thanks to members like magic62 his diagnosis was bang on.

If you are using the 2.0 TDI in either 140 or 170 guise then the chances are the problem could be linked to a faulty Exhaust Pressure Sensor (G450) (Part Number - 076906051A)

How can I be sure? It seems a very common fault as mentioned before across the VAG platform of engines & is also widely discussed on the Audi/VW & Seat sites too.

A BIG shout out to this forum though, thanks Guys for your time in adding your experiences.

If you are lucky enough to still be covered under warranty then good for you, if not then it's going to cost you around £160.00 fitted by a dealer. If you fancy a crack at it yourself then maybe worth looking at buying one from eBay!

All the breast,

mine is showing an intermittent misfire fualt at minute - car currently has 03G 906 051A which is the old version. New one has cost me £48 so fingers crossed it will be better

parts guy said old version is known to fail and fact they stock these on shelf says it all to me!

HIYA I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAD SKODA ASSISTANCE CALL TO MY HOUSE AND IT COST £40 FITTED BARGIN, I ALSO STRIPPED THE SENSOR AND FOUND IT BE AN AMERICAN PART WHICH HAS NO WEATHER PROTECTION SEALANT INSIDE, WHICH THE MALASIAN MADE NEW SENSORS HAVE SO IM GUESSING THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE OLD STYLE SENSORS.

IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM I WOULD SUGGEST USING SKODA ASSISTANCE AS DRIVING IT IN SAFE MODE CAN DAMAGE DPF AND COST AOVER 1000 POUND SO CHEAPER TO PAY £89 FOR YEARS COVER FOR PEACE OF MIND CHEERS , :smirk: TERRY
