Thanks to James at Allams in Epsom for a smooth pickup and a great car. Managed 50mpg on the way home from Epsom starting with 4 miles on the clock. Amazing, and better than my old Elegance, although I might have been driving like a granny.

All the best,

Les.

Thanks for the photo's found this one interesting;

Take it the rough road pack is standard on a Scout (plastic shields on the rear axle beams) plus steel engine undertray as well

On my Yeti it was on the options list :(

Yeti from a similar angle but with a little less daylight and slightly more used and abused :giggle:

Very smart looking car , like that a lot emoticon-0148-yes.gif.

Bet the bloke down the road with the silver A6 Allroad will be green with envy! :giggle:

You decided against the LED DRL's then?

Smart motor!

Welcome to the club :)

Nice.

My new Scout arrived here (in Epsom) this morning! :D

Lovely car!

The satin grey is a really nice colour. Saw it on a Superb around the time I ordered my vRS, and would probably have chosen it had it been an option on the vRS.

Enjoy!

Thanks chaps for all your comments - all adds to the enjoyment of the new car.

On the rough road package - yes it looks like the suspension beam covers are included, but I've added another pic of the underside front, and I'm not convinced the sump cover is steel - I'm going to check with a magnet tomorrow.

While I'm at it - does anyone know what the opening in the front of the sump plate (arrowed in orange) is for? Looks like its providing cooling air flow to something - oil cooler??? Also provides a trap for mud, stones, snow etc...

I think the A6 owner works for the Audi garage in Dulwich - he seems to get a some very decent demos. I should see what he makes of the Scout - I looked at second hand A6s and A4 allroads as alternatives, but it made no sense at all looking at the prices and the families need for boot space.

Nice one Les, thats got me looking at another one when I chop mine in soon - like that colour alot.

Looking at the DTD price with all the big options (Xenon, Columbus etc..) extremely tempting especially under £20k - thats a lot of car for the money.

Agreed - Allams came pretty close to DTD taking the VAT discount and 24 months interest free credit - I thought it was an excellent deal. I went for the Xenons and they are brilliant (scuse pun) - brighter and better aimed than the pre-facelift ones.

Good job they sorted them out, I must have had a few hundred people flash me over the past few years & it becomes a little annoying after a while, trouble is when I lowered them they were dangerously low so just had to put up with them blinding everyone - still on the plus side they were bright.

I may just be getting in touch with Allams soon then & see what they will offer for mine as PX.

How's the CR noise in the cabin - do you know if it's that much better than the PD?

I've just moved from a 2007 2.0 PD Octavia Elegance to a new CRD140 Scout - and the difference is signficant - it is much softer and more refined in sound at idle and low speed. There is also less vibration when cold.

Amazingly, based on the first run - about 50 miles - the economy is better than the previous engine too. I got 50mpg without really trying.

Looks great - nice stance and the colour suits it really well

As said, that colour would look really well on a vRS too B)

Enjoy.

Very nice indeed. That will help keep me going for the next 3 weeks while I wait for mine to sail across the pacific ocean.. Colours are so subjective. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks really smart, but what's grey about it? Looks pretty blue to me. That said, I can hardly talk, the Cappuccino Beige I've ordered might suggest something of a muddy light brown, whereas the pictures I've seen suggest it does have a definite grey hue, which is what I wanted.

We'll have to wait and see what it looks like in the flesh I guess, never having actually seen one.

Couldn't agree more! I'm looking out at a clear blue sky just after sunrise and the colour is identical. I don't understand why it's not called Misty Morning Blue or some other marketing name. I was very tempted by beige - I've seen it on standard octavias and like the colour a lot for it's reaction to lighting conditions - sometimes a subtle grey and sometimes really golden under evening sun. Also masks dirt really well.

You must be very excited - I can't think of many car better suited to NZ driving conditions than the scout. I had four weeks in a beaten up Corolla and felt the need for more! You've got some great opportunities for 'scout in environment' photo shoots.

I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Ps wife just suggested Stratosphere Blue - better than my effort.

Car washes might damage your paint work but thwey dont damage your body

Very nice, I only wish I had the money to buy a scout when I bought my Elegance. My next car will be a scout
