Weitec pictures

Featured Replies

I've had my weitec coilovers on for a few weeks now.. ride height settled slightly after a few thousand miles so I had JKM set them up for me: consistent height front to rear and wound down.

Not done any measuring, but I'm guessing they are about 40mm lower than the eibach/koni set up I had previously so overall thats probably somewhere around 60mm lower than stock. I'm very happy with the stance now, but unfortunately the ride quality suffers a little when you've wound these right down which is a shame - i'll run it like this for a few months i guess and see how i get on.

There is a little room on the adjusters to go lower, but not much. I think this is probably as low as you can realistically go on a daily driver. No rubbing and its fine on the speed bumps.

Looks excellent. Perfect height for me.

I am now considering these as i know a set going for cheap soon. :)

That looks awesome ! :)

OMG, that looks the mutts! Makes my vRS look like it's an Allroad! Looks brill when it's that low. Is that a 250ml can of coke you've got in the photo! :giggle:

How does the handling and ride compare with the FSD/Eibach set up that you had previously, apart from being obviously lower?

Yes, i'll have to ban the wife from driving it now its fixed!

These pics are even more useful now Rob, seeing as my coilies are now on. Found it a little difficult when fitting them to see exactly how the height would be!

Looking at these I'm maybe running at 45-50mm lower than standard. Will just have to see how it goes; maybe for daily/speedbump sake I might raise it a touch after I've done some miles and allowed for some bedding in. I'm also running 17s currently, on a 45 profile, but shortly going to 18s on a 40 - so will observe how the ride quality is then.

Cheers,

Steve

looks broken :o:o:o:o:giggle:

Nice! I like the alloys against the white car too

very nice!! Hicon GT? have you got any knocking noises?

Still an amazing improvement! You have a little gap there between the wheel and the arch :giggle:

Better but, for my taste, too low

Steve - what did you get? weitecs?

Btw I just touched on a speed bump (more like a fukcing speed mountain actually!) the other day. Problem was that SWMBO was in the car - uh oh!

Not a problem, just the rubber flap things but it was enough to prompt a "your car is too low" type coversation..etc etc..

Might have to go up a nadge.

:p

.. unless i can get away with just "half" a nadge.

Steve - what did you get? weitecs?

Went for KW V1s Rob :)

Went for KW V1s Rob :)

Cool.

i'd be interested in your feedback on the ride once they're settled in. I chose the weitecs over kw v1's based on them being a little cheaper (galvanised vs. stainless) but still made by the same people..

Mine is now about 10mm higher than in the pics above. Ride quality has improved as a result.

have you got any knocking noises?

yes i DID have a clunk on one damper, but JKM resolved this for me FOC - seems the insert was not fully torqued up - its fine now.

Lovely motor Rob. My candy white hatch is on order and due to be built next week. Can't wait.

Out of interest I fancy having the neptune's sprayed up similar to yours.

May I ask where you had them done and what I should expect to be charged?

colour is bmw sparkling graphite (A22) and they are painted rather than powdercoat, gloss finish although pic does not show this well as the car was dirty and covered in a layer of dew (early morning).

cost 180 quid, done by rivermead accident repair centre in reading.

BTW there was a thread recently where someone had posted details of a refinisher in birmingham that was super-cheap for powercoat...

are these coilovers or weitec suspension kit?

what's the ride comfort like compared to standard?
