Disconnected the battery from my Fabia, reconnected it and the stereo just said 'SAFE' , then the option to enter the code.
My stereo handbook has a sticker in the front page with a 4 digit code on it, I have entered this code into the head unit and it does not work :'( (typed code in and pressed and held the right arrow on head unit), it just comes up with 'SAFE' again and I have to wait an hour before I can type in again.

My question is - shouldnt the head unit be linked to my ECU already and recognise each other?

Has anyone else had to go to Skoda to get their stereo code, if so what is the process that you have to do?

Do they charge you for giving the code?

Sounds like the radio isnt the one supplied with the car that the code relates to.

You'll need a dealer to get the code.

I had kinda worked that one out - not looking forward to a trip to ny useless dealer (Prestige, Coventry).

Does anyone know what info they will need from the vehicle/car and more importantly howmuch does it cost?

I wanna know if its worth doing it or whether just fit an aftermarket stereo (I have one). In my opinion the standard head unit

aint the best and want to know if its going ream me out for 20 to get the code or if they will do it for free?

Depends on the dealer. A good one may do it for free, especially if you've used them before.

Lew -you say you're in Warks -have you tried Brooklyn in Rugby --CV22 5EZ - next-door to Aldi near Paddox close ,on Hillmorton Road .I've always found them helpful .Problem os that they're not shown in the list of Skoda dealers anymore -so are they still on business ?
