Octavia 2.0 CR 140 has anyone got one yet and if so whats it like and what mpg does it do

I took the delivery last week and till now have done only 550Kms and am getting 14.3kmpl overall with full time AC, there is some turbo lag in the first and second gear but after that its just a breeze. By the way i have the 6speed DSG gearbox. Hope this helps.

I've just taken delivery of a CR140 Scout, and I've been impressed with the engine and its economy. I drove 50 miles back home from picking it up which was about a third motorway, a third B-road, and a third urban hevy traffic, and it returned 50mpg according to the trip computer. I thought this was great for a new engine, and I'm comvinced my old Elegance 2.0 PD would have struggled to match. The CO2 emissions for the Scout drop from 173 to 155g/km which is a good indication of the improvement albeit theoretical.

Les.

My new CR140 Scout arrived last Monday, and it's been wall to wall smiles ever since :D

it sounds like the common rail engine is a tad better than the pd unit it replaces, which is the one i have, i got mine just 6 months ago before they changed over, although we have a new 2.0cr and two 1.6cr due to be delivered around november so looking forward to test driving them both.

will be great to see your feed back when you drive them both

i will be taking them all for a spin, so will report back with findings and comparison against my present one.

I took delivery of a Octy Elegance Estate 140 CR at the beginning of the month. I've had three other Octys since 99, and passed an X Reg SLX which was sound, but needed work and a major service, over to my brother in law, to make way for the new arrival. I still have an 03 Elegance 105 PD, and have not driven any Octy 2 type before.

Overall, it's excellent. I was offered the 140CR by the dealer based on a faxed price list, and waited the usual 14 weeks for delivery, so I'd imagine these to be a rarity at the moment. I very seriously considered a vRS, but the tyres were expensive, the insurance likewise, the road tax and fuel economy not so good, (relatively speaking) and those vulgar badges most probably attract thieves, vandals and undue attention from traffic cops. :p

The 140CR is far cheaper to buy and run, has no road tax for the first year, and is only 1.2 seconds slower than the 170 vRS. To my mind, it's a debadged bargain stealth performance car with extreme efficiency on top.

Many good points here - I'm comparing to my Octy 1 as a baseline.

Quiet, refined and a very progressive, powerful engine - feels pretty much like the vRS which I took on a test drive. Very solid feel to the chassis and suspension. Fantastic front loading 6 cd stereo, a little fiddly with the touchscreen, but will get used to that. The screen also gives a visual reference for the rear parking sensor.

The instrument panel helpfully reminds you to change up to 6th! Sometimes the recommended gear doesn't tally with the feedback from the engine, eg, 5th at 40mph, iirc.

The main headlights can't be left on without the engine running. How sensible!

Choosing economy over performance, I got close to 70 mpg by doing a steady 60 for 70 miles, with 1 pax, sack of spuds, many tins of dogfood and three large dogs on board.

The less good points are all relatively minor details -

I'm going to order some custom protective plastic for the rear bumper and door sills from a firm in Germany, mentioned elsewhere on this forum. The Octy 1 has a rear plastic sill as standard...

Don't bother ordering Skoda floormats, like I foolishly did - DIY stores offer better quality items at just a tenth of the price that I paid for the nondescript (Skoda?) ones.

The ridiculous rear hatch protruding dog bone rubber handle - what kind of idiot designer would put that in an estate car! I have tried to remove it before my larger dog chews it, but now see that I will probably need to remove the entire panel first, so that's a job for later. I'm going to replace it with a dog lead strap, also attached in the correct place for leverage - just like it is on the Octy 1 - so I can close the hatch without using both hands. Necessary with dogs on leads etc.

I've since noticed several FL Octys with darker glass fitted behind the B pillar. The new catalogue first listing the 140 CR listed clearly describes rear tinted glass as a standard feature for the SE and above . It didn't show up on the car. :wonder: I'm looking to resolve this point with Skoda Customer Services, as the Sale of Goods Act does say that goods must match the description...

i think there is a difference between this standard "rear tinted glass" - ie "these windows are darker than your front windscreen - but you don't really notice" and the obviously tinted "sunset glass", which costs extra. (or is listed as standard for the Scout)

I think they mean the slightly tinted "green" glass, rather than "privacy glass" ... i.e. if you wind the window part-way down and look at something, the bit through the glass should be darker.

Try these for protecting your rear bumper from scratches.

The Fabia 2 also has the stupid rubber dog bone. Its not even possible to close the hatch with this due to where it is. The Mk 1 material loop strap was much better but still not possible to close the hatch single handed. My 98 Alhambra has a proper right-way-round recessed handle on the bottom edge of the hatch that does the job properly - why do designers unlearn things???
