Temperature light

Featured Replies

Hi there people in need of some help, the temperature light is coming and staying on even though I have checked all levels.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why this is?

Cheers jono

Is it the fluid level warning light, or the overheating light? I think they are the different (or at least orange/red).

If the fluid level indicator, then pop off the cap of the expansion tank and use a piece of wood/stick to rub the bubbles off of the two prongs in the tank. The bubbles reduce the amount of surface area for the electrical current to flow through the water to the other prong, thus making the car believe there is less water in the tank than there really is.

If the coolant temperature, then you might need a new CTS and o-ring, I think they are about £20 from a dealer and take a few seconds to fit. Prepare the new sensor by sticking the new o-ring on it. Remove cable, clip, pull out of sensor *and* o-ring, and then quickly insert the new sensor (complete with o-ring), replace the clip and reconnect the loom. I found it easier to undo the plug once I had removed the sensor, but it is all the same really. The key bit is quickly remove the old and replace with the new to avoid too much coolant pouring out. As a side note so this when the coolant is cool. I did not need to top mine up as I only had a few drips come out.

lol

my coolant temp light is on all the time, except when the coolant is hot.

I have replced the CTS, topped up the coolant level, did not make any change. So I decided to believe it is a warning to tell me not to boot it while the engine is gently warming up :giggle:

Do you want me to fault code scan it sometime?
