Refurb result...

Featured Replies

Picked them up from the 'furbers last night. Oooh look all new and shiny! ;)

For those interested, I used PureKlas. He's an old friend from E38 and did a smashing job on them I think

Just for those who might be thinking about getting wheels done. He's based near Coventry.

Oh, and for an easy 'spot the wheel' competition - what are they? :D

Cheers,

Steve

Come on n00b Fatty - I need the model too! :p

Powdercoat, then lacquer.

Turinis ..............

As they are the only SL's I have ever heard of

Haha, I knew I shouldn't have used the 'Speedline' section as close-up example ;)

And here's a 'before' just for comparison purposes...

And no, that wasn't the result of my handiwork - I bought them looking like this!

Looks like an excellent job! B)

Was I right ??

Of course

Have a gold star.

Aye, can't fault PureKlas. But for polished stuff I hear you're as well off dealing direct with Rainbow Polishing.

Cost?

  • Author

£50 a corner Ben. Which I thought was very reasonable, given that I knew a good job would be done, and also compared with some of the more perhaps 'ordinary' outfits offering refurbishing.

As for straight wheel polishing, don't think I'd ever be that brave - but thanks for the tip

Cheers,

Steve

nice. turinis are a good look, OEM style-ee.

what size are they?

What a good result. Not sure how they will look on the car.

  • Author

They're 18s.

And only time will tell how they'll look. Not seen them on an Octy2 before, hence this making some of the decision for me ;) - someone's gotta try them first hey?

Cheers,

Steve

I'll be interested to see them on. I reckon they should look good.

quick pic: 18" turinis on a mk5 golf.

I think they'll look great.

Don't forget to weigh them beforoe you do the swap so you know how they compare with the OE.

nice choice Wardy, always liked those rims, they should look good on an Octy, quite "motorsport"

I usually choose wheels well, so here's hoping they work out OK! Like finding something that works, but that hasn't been done to death :)

Well the wheels are 8.5Kg a piece Rob, but yes - I can weigh again with some tyres attached :)

Just need to get them fitted now. My usual bloke is on holiday I think, and I need to choose carefully as I want the tyres fitted with care, to what are effectively brand new wheels

Then I'll set to work with the wheel sealant and wax. Should have some pics by the weekend B)

Cheers,

Steve
