Anyone got a haldex spanner?

Featured Replies

Hi all

need to change the Haldex oil and filter but just wondering if anyone has the spanner for hire :D rather than having to buy one?

ta in advance :D

doubt it Karl, without ramps changing the haldex filter/oil is a serious serios beatch to get to and i guess most people would take to a garage to do instead.

My tuner recons its quicker to unbolt the driveshafts, props and ARB, and drop the haldex subframe, than do do it in situ

Does require ramps and a high-lift engine/gearbox lift ...

Recon something like this would be very useful:

It's easy to do in situ with the spanner, sure as he'll wouldn't unbolt the diff on service lol

Your tuner doesn't know what he's talking about or hasn't got the special tool.

see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-VW-Audi-Skoda-Seat-Haldex-diff-filter-tool-/180567014314?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a0aa1fbaa

So the garage you are taking it to doesn't even have the spanner?! :wonder:

i would have thought only vag garages would have this type of spanner, its quite specialist really, and a lot of people dont even bother changing their haldex oil

I think he was speaking a bit tongue-in-cheek, indicating as to what a git of location you've got to get to :giggle:

The haldex subframe had to be dropped anyway as the torsen-type diff and haldex controller where being changed.

it is indeed in a right beatch of a place to get to without ramps,

Am I right in thinking only 4X4's have this Haldex system?

Am I right in thinking only 4X4's have this Haldex system?

Yes, Haldex is the name of the designer/manufacturer of the Haldex 4WD clutch system.

The Haldex system is called branded "4x4" on Skodas, "4Motion" of VW's Golfs, "Quattro" on A3/S3/TT, "4" on Seat Leon/Toledo

Also fitted to some Volvo's, Land Rover Disco's, etc ...
