Camshaft Sensor

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I had my car in for some work yesterday and typically it came out with more faults than it went in with, haha. It's an 06 Octavia vRS.

The code related to faulty camshaft sensor which I have now removed and checked. There appears to be infinite resistance across it and I believe it should be 10-13kOhms?

Anyway, I have tried GSF and ECP for the part but they don't seem to list it, was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and where you got the spares from?

I did a quick Google and found this: http://www.probedistributors.co.uk/PartDetails.aspx?s_pc=PDTS10762&s_vid= - however I would expect this part to be more like £50+, not £14...

Thanks in advance for any help!

This part is used on numerous VAG vehicles. The low-cost part you mention is probably non-OE and sourced from China. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing because its a simple item (basically just a coil of fine wire wrapped around a small permanent magnet) - so the Chinese stuff can be OK.

You are correect that an open-circuit indicates that he sensor has failed. Just buy one of the cheap parts and install!

I don't think this part would cost much more from Skoda maybe another tenner.

its only £24.93 + vat from the dealers

Just a quick update (hopefully might be helpful if someone finds this thread in the future via a search) - I managed to get the part from Euro Car Parts: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/419440400/p/Car-Parts

It's listed as an Audi/VW spare but it's the same part throughout all models as said above :) Even looks like it might be the exact OE part, since the location of the part number, Audi and VW logos seems to have been 'scrubbed' to remove any identification...

Thanks again for your help!
