After seeing how good rob_e's wheels looked when he had them done i decided to get mine done too. Would have loved to have got them done before I picked up the car but its another area that Skoda are missing out one apart from with the Fabia VRS. Come on Skoda, get yourselves into gear and offer different coloured wheels as an option!

I decided to go with a local firm who have loads of good reviews on the net and on a few other forums plus after meeting the owner Chris I could tell he really cares for doing a good job. Their website is here smart repair company - chester and the wheels cost £246 to get done which included the removal and fitting of the tyres. (No affiliation to the company by the way, just a happy customer)

The process they use is to;

remove tyres

chemically strip the wheels (shot blast can be too severe apparently)

powder coated primer

Spray paint the colour (anthracite)

baked on laquer

This is the new coat and with all the rain I havent been able to get any shots yet with it clean! Probably marmite to a lot of people but I really like dark wheels on white cars, silver just doesnt cut it for me.

Whilst it was in Chris also had some good ideas on some vinyl stickers which Ive only had chance to apply to one wheel at the moment. They are done in graphite so not too obvious and you can only notice them when up close

not 100% sure on the vRS decal on the wheels..................it does make it look different though

Orrr you're making me jealous! does he do group buys or wants to become a briskoda partner and give discount!!! I cant justify this before xmas!

btw.. Stu, must have been you I seen on the new bridge on Sunday morning just after 10am?

Cheers Dovit and rob_e Yup the decals are an aquired taste Im going to put them on and try them out for a few months as theyll always peel off later. At the moment you only see the one ive applied if its ended up resting at the bottom of the wheel.

Yup that must of been me as we were on the way to cheshire oaks. Sorry mustn't have spotted you Loz.

It took two days so the car was in his unit overnight (and insured). Dropped off at 9am on wednesday and picked up at 11am on thurs. I think he's doing deals at the mo for january bookings.

Looks fantastic! You've given me an idea for my blue VRS. Anthracite wheels and matching grille surround I think would look good. Is your grille surround black? Would also like to paint my roof rails anthracite too but I doubt the paint would be hardwearing enough for my roof rack.

I quite like your grille surround in blue, but I'm still not 100% sure on whether to keep it as it is, paint it blue or paint it black. I like your wheels a lot and could be tempted to do mine, just not sure how they’d look against a blue car. Colour coding the grille is a must imo, you could try wrapping it in carbon like vRSCarl, that looks very effective, if you do a quick search you will definately find some pictures of grey wheels on a blue car, looks good, not as nice as on a white though me thinks!

Great idea, although now you’ve just made it a harder decision! I think carbon grille surround would look good, I will hold judgement on anthracite wheels until I’ve seen them on a blue car. Maybe some photoshopping is in order for tonight. OP – thanks for the inspiration.
