Net Partition in estate

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just had a look at the new manual for the superb and it shows a net partition for the luggage compartment that looks integral to the boot cover. Is this as it seems, or can you buy itfrom local dealers. I was looking at fitting the dog guard (which is not an easy fit) but this net partition would do the job nicely for me, my dogs are well behaved and will stay behind the net.

I have not got the car yet, it is being built hopefully as I type. Fingers crossed for xmas.

I assume you mean the same as in this thread? (which should probably also answer your question)

Will hopefully be an option in the future tho'.

I got the metal guard fitted by my dealer when the car arrived. The guard is easy to install and remove once the holes are drilled. With the guard removed, the upper mounting hole cant be seen. The others are hidden low down beind the seats.

Does the job perfectly for me and the dog is quite happy.

On other cars i have seen with the net, it is only designed to withstand light objects hitting them. As my dog weighs 30kg and is always well behaved in the car, if I were it at 30mph from behind his weight would becoame simialr to that of a bay elephant and I doubt a net would help. I'll also be investing in a secondary tailgate guard which would prevent my dog being ejected out the back window if we were hit from behind. As the Skoda guard only comes down to the top of the rear seats, there is still the possibility of folding the seats down so my dog has a means of esscape should the rear of the car get smashed.

Dear RS3100,

can you post some pictures of your metal guard and its mounting holes?

Here are so0me pictures with and without the guard as it makes it easier to show how hidden the upper mounting point is.

Lower left mounting point, other side is exactly the same, I've loosly placed the bolt in to make it stand out more.

When you are driving, there is nothing intrusive about the guard. Once it is removed, you can't see any of the holes drilled in the trim and there are extra trim bits that neaten up areas where holes have had to be drilled.

I find the easiest way to install the guard is with the retractable cover in place for the guard to rest against and tilt the seat backs forward. The guard then just pivots back so the rear screws can be put in followed by the upper ones. Removal is a reverse of the installation.

Unlike other solid guards I have had in the past on other makes of car, the load cover is fully useable so you can still obscure items from prying eyes.

Let me know if you want any extra information regarding the guard.

Dear RS3100,

Thanks for these pictures  , this info is much more elaborate than the useless info in Skoda's accessory leaflet!

Does anybody have this kind of net partition?:

I found it on Czech configurator. I've got a similar net partition in Mazda6 and got accustomed to using it.

Hi Maxxus,

I've followed a few threads on this site & the past week had my dealer in Manchester chasing round for such as net partition. I had one in my Vectra & thought it would be standard on estate cars - but thats just been sold.

My dealer has confirmed what other comments on here have stated. It is not a part that a UK Skoda dealer can order (it may be found in the Skoda Superb Handbook) but its not an extra for us here in blighty :-(

I am reluctantly resorting to the Dog guard/luggage restraint as shown in the photo's from RS3100. However, my dealer is saying that it does not require the drilling of holes / fixing points such as in the head liner.... odd as this contradicts the pictures! I think I'll believe the pictures until I see it mith my own eyes. He also states that the wire mesh can easily be removed... the plot thickens, I'll post pictures over the weekend (assuming the car is delivered on Friday late PM) and assuming its different to RS3100's dog guard.

Good luck but it doesn't like the UK will be getting it :-( at least not for a while.

hope this helps

It will have to be different to mine and mine when I got the car a couple weeks back was the only guard for the Estate in the Uk market and I can assure you the mesh isn't easily removed unless you take an angle grinder to the welds ;)

I'd be interested to see what guard you get to.

Hmmm... I'll give the angle grinder a miss & I'm as interested to know what I'm getting too :D (I assume its got to be the same... the lack of them being sold may be the reason for unclarity).

Quite true, my car was only the second car they had fitted a guard to.
