STEEL WHEEL INFO

Featured Replies

As I didn't get any info. from my last post I found out the hard way. So if anyone else faces the same problem here is what I found out. This is if you wish to fit 16 inch steel wheels to your Scout and would prefer to buy genuine Skoda bits.

Skoda supply a steel wheel for Winter Tyres, this is a 16x6.0J Part No. 8PO 060102703C. I was not aware of this and thought I was just getting regularly supplied wheels. Presumably they do this to allow narrower section tyres to be fitted? These are out of stock until mid- December which is why I have been waiting 1 month already.

The full size spare in my Scout is 16 x 6.5J. Part No. 1Z0 601011A. This has a different part no. as it is an accessory rather than a spare part and comes with the tyre fitted and the tool kit.

There is a separate part no. for exactly the same wheel as a spare, or in my case for use as a Winter wheel. This is 1K 0601027A03C. There are plenty of these in stock so I have ordered some. As I mentioned I already have 205/55/R16 Winter tyres that were on the 6.5J x 16 alloys on my MkI Octavia so I know the fit will be fine.

All have the same ET50 offset.

Hope this is of some use.

Thanks for posting - that's useful info.

Just out of interest, how much did those steels cost?

At last! I wondered when someone would think of using the full size spare & just buying three more. You can always lob one alloy in as a spare.

These are ones I got off've t'Bay back in March from a Mk2 Leon (exactly same part no.) - £1.70 for a set of four!!

Probably a bit more from a dealer......

:o:o You lucky............... :swear:

I'm bidding on a set of Superb spare wheels, apparently they will fit the mkII Octy!

I called Skoda earlier before ordering steels from MyTyres. they wanted a stagering £41 + VAT per wheel.....

It did also cost me a couple bottles of Whisky; one friend who lived near the seller picked them up for me and brought them north the next time he was up, another let me keep them in his garage for the best part of six months before I needed them.

Still not too bad at all.

Niall

I've posted this in another thread, but will 2007 Leon 16" steelies fit the Octy II?

Yep. Part no is as posted above '1K 0601027A03C' if you want to be absolutely sure.

Nice 1-now for the next part of the plan...

rob_e. Price quoted is around £55 + the VAT.

Yes I know this seems a lot compared to £1.70 and a bottle or 2 of whisky but I'm not that jammy. Anyway I don't have an e-bay account and I can go and pick them up when they arrive. A mate got me some decent looking trims and badges for them of e-bay the other week but i don't want to mither him again. I'll put some pics on when they're on the car. Out of interest , I checked Mytyres but it wasn't obvious to me that you could just buy the wheels without tyres.

Can I ask how much were the steelies from MyTyres? Did you have to ring them direct (because on the MyTyres website they only appear to seel steelies with Tyres fitted already, not on their own...)

Thanks

Don't think they do. and in any case, new customers seem to be treated as potential fraudsters if you pay by credit card; you're likely to get a suspicious looking email the following day asking for direct payment to a bank account. Which, by the way, is a way of effectively removing consumer protection for a distance transaction.

I've gone down the main dealer route. Yes, more expensive, but he'll store whichever wheels are not on the car, it was quick and trouble free. just turn up, wander round the showroom for 20 minutes while they swap them over. compared to a month of trying to work out what wheels will fit, and searching on eBay for a set near enough to make it cost effective; which I couldn't. hence the main dealer.

Very useful thanks and explains why my dealer is struggling to find the last rim of four! I gave him that first part number. Darn. He has three rims so too late now to get him to change them around for the last part number. Oh well. Snow is here, I have my car, but no winter wheels! Doh!

The first number, btw, looks like it should be 8P060102703C, not 8PO 060102703C. Usually easily sourced from any other VAG dealer, not only Skoda. Plenty on ebay as well, if a little pricey.

I hear you! I've twice missed out on alloys off eBay. I'm not sure I like the look of steelies though.

I just ordered 4 x 1K0601027A03C (16 x 6.5J) from Farmers Skoda in Leicester after talking to Graham there. The price is £58.33 as he gave me 10% off for ordering 4, the offer is open to other people as well.

I've order 4 x Winter Contact TS830 from Kwik Fit at £81.65 as well, all ready to be bolted on to my car when i collect it on Monday :).

Lazydrew,

Are you putting trims onto your steelies or leaving them bare? I've left mine bare but am thinking about getting some centre caps (if I can find some) to cover the hub nut.

Paul

We use a local powder coater for a lot of work so he is going to do them in any colour i want. Will probably choose Silver/Grey.

sorrty quoted wrong quote in thread here lol

With a Stud Diameter of 100 - No

You need a stud diameter/PCD of 112.

These can all be used as filters on the L.hand side of the eBay page to clear out the dross from the Wheel Rims section.

So...

Number of Studs = 5

Stud Diameter = 112

Ideally you want an offset of 50, but beggars can't be choosers!

Might be worth selecting Condition = "Used" to bin all the Rockford Alloys that clutter the page too.

By applying the filters you might miss some mis-listed items, but you need to be sure that what you're getting will fit.

If someone wants steelies for a Mk1 Octy though, those Beetle wheels would be just the ticket.....

I'd really appreciate it of someone could confirm whether I have the right info here:

I have a petrol vRS hatch (2010 model).

So I will order a set of four 1K 0601027A03C 16" steel wheels, and a set of four 205/55/R16 winter tyres.

1) is the above information correct?

2) will ANY 205/55/R16 tyre fit the above 16" wheels, or is there another measurement that needs to "match"?

3) if I am going from my 18" alloy wheels to 16" steelies, does this mean I'll have smaller wheels overall? Or will my tyres have the same rolling circumference?

4) I already have a 16" steel wheel in my boot (spare) that was supplied with the car. Can I use this as one of my four steel wheels and then buy 3 of 1K 0601027A03C? This will save about £60. Or is it the case that 1K 0601027A03C is a different wheel, compared to the spare?

5) Can I use my existing wheel bolts to fit the steelies, or will I need new (maybe shorter) bolts?

Sorry for the long list, it's just that I've been reading up on winter tyres here and elsewhere for a couple of weeks and am more confused than ever! Skoda dealers vary a lot in what they tell me as well, in terms of what particular steel wheel I need to order, etc.

Yes. The part no. is for 6.5J width wheels rather than the "winter" 6J Wheels. The only difference is to do with fitting chains in accordance with the manual which states 6J wheels, but I'd guess that slightly pricier slimline chains will do just fine should you be heading abroad

2) will ANY 205/55/R16 tyre fit the above 16" wheels, or is there another measurement that needs to "match"?

Yes any tyre in that profile will fit.

3) if I am going from my 18" alloy wheels to 16" steelies, does this mean I'll have smaller wheels overall? Or will my tyres have the same rolling circumference?

Yep slightly smaller wheels. Check out the link here and put in your existing size and new size to see the difference.

Dunno, check what is stamped around the hub centre on the outer face of the spare wheel in your boot! It will detail part no. PCD, offset, everything.

But what do you do in the summer if you have a puncture? Run one of your winters? Or equally get a puncture in this weather - and have no spare? I'd rather get home with one summer tyre and three winters in this weather than wait for the AA to get to me! So I'd recommend you get a set of four and leave the spare in the boot. Means should you change cars you have a full set to sell rather than 3

5) Can I use my existing wheel bolts to fit the steelies, or will I need new (maybe shorter) bolts)

Existing bolts work fine

This subject really needs a sticky thread that pulls everything togther as the same questions have been getting asked for the last two months.
