All of a sudden: music!

Featured Replies

So there I was on my way in to work this morning, fiddling around with the cornering lights setting on the maxidot (see this thread) when I inadvertently pressed the wrong button on the steering wheel several times and the next thing I know the car is starting to phone a friend (one of my friends - the car doesn't have any friends, as far as I know anyway) . In a mild panic, I pressed buttons at random to cancel the call. This succeeded, but to my surprise a dialogue box then appeared on the Bolero screen saying "Enable BT Audio?" Feeling bold I stuck my finger on the "Yes" button and lo and behold, the the cabin was filled with the clink of change, whirring cash registers and Roger Waters' iconic bass intro to "Money".

Yes, I admit it: I have Pink Floyd on my phone.

I wish I knew what it was I did that got that to happen, though, because a number of more structured attempts to achieve the same thing (following the advice offered on a number of related threads on here) have borne no fruit.

The phone pairs with the car automatically. I didn't touch the phone itself at all, in fact it was tucked away in my rucksack at the time. Anyone have any clues as to what might have happened to get the BT audio working?

Hehehe... Love this. I paired my iPhone and when I press play on the iPod app in my phone the BT Audio button goes from grey (und thus unuseable) to green. Click it as you did and voila you are streaming your music via Bluetooth to your car. Fantastic!

So I guess since a phone call is always handled by your phone (and the car is just an intermediate) when you pressed buttons to stop it somehow the play button on your phone got pressed too. Hence the BT Audio button going live.

I love this feature as it means I can listen to playlists from my iPhone and not just a CD with from the same artist or the random things I dragged to my SD card as a test.

Hey 900000 - I've seen your pics. Very nice. Quick Q - Does the iphone work with the bolero? Does it use HFP? I can connect my iphone in my new Suberb, but want to make sure it works with the bolero in the Yeti as I am going to order a yeti in the new year (140 dsg).

Thanks

Hi. The BT fitted to the SM is GSM 11, whereas the Superb has GSM 111. My iPhone 4 running iOS4.2.1 works great with GSM11. It has nothing to do with the Bolero or Columbus in my case.

Mike

On a Columbus you can set up auto play/connect for the BT audio. So as soon as you start to play on the iPod app it starts to play through the speakers without having to select BT Audio. Maybe that is what happened for the OP.

Problem is if you are listening to CD/radio/SD card, and an email comes in, then it switches over to BT audio!! Which would be fine for TomTom app.

You can turn off auto connect in setup.

Apologies for only seeing this now. I was away. But I think you have been answered. My iPhone works perfectly with my Bolero, from phone calls, importing the phone book, playing bluetooth music right down to sending the iPhone sat nav instructions via the car's speakers.

I have an iphone 4 and a Jan 2010 Yeti and still haven't managed to get Bluetooth Audio on my Bolero.

Anyone else using an iphone 4?

Yes, there are several of us here. I have a MY2011 140DSG. Audio streams fine. You have to first of all pair with the Maxidot. Then you should have another option for media & check that your phone is selected/connected.

Next start playing something on the iphone. Then you should see the BT symbol in media become available. You can then press that and away you go.

But.

I do believe that BT streaming was not part of the spec for earlier vehicles.....Somebody else maybe able to correct me on that.

Many thanks Mike

On the radio setup, there is an option for BT audio, which I have selected but it remains greyed out. Pairing the phone is a cinch. I have also heard that BT streaming wasn't enabled on early models so perhaps it's a software issue.

Excellent thanks.. More boxes being ticked ;-)

I have a 2011 Octavia Scout with the bolero radio but no maxi dot. The radio has a setting to enable Bluetooth audio but despite me doing this, the iPhone 4 refuses to pair with the car. It paired with my TomTom no problem at all whilst checking it out at the same time. Any ideas?
