..although I got a bong and a snowflake once it had 'warmed up' to -5! :giggle:

yep same problem here this morning - no bong until -5C

-8C when i started the car - frost on the inside of the windscreen!

I'm used to having no bong and a flashing temperature when I first start the car on a chilly day, but today there was nothing! :wonder:

I wondered what that bing was !

Yeah I've noticed this too, strange.

car says -7.5 presently and no frost sign

Software bug in ECU me thinks.

In my old 206 and my mates focus it only warns of ice between +3' and -5' as anything below that is obvious there is going to be ice/ frost, so it only warns you in the milder incase you haven't noticed... Probably same with skoda...

Was it this Bing??

on my focus st it shows an orange snowflake at -3 and then a red snowflake at 0 and lower

LOL, I noticed this on the Fabias I've had too! It's as if it looses the ability to tell it's cold below a certain temp :D

Or that below that level it's pretty bloody obvious that ice may be a potential risk anyway ;)

I think this is a case of the Germans letting natural selection run it's course.. if it's that cold and you don't think that there might be a risk of ice then.. let Darwin's theory prove itself basically.

It's perfectly clear in the handbook:

The outside temperature indicator will appear with a snowflake symbol (warning

signal for ice on the road) ⇒ page 14, fig. 8 and a warning signal sounds* when the

outside temperature lies between +5°C and -5°C.

Clearly you'll know it's icy if it's less than -5°C

The picture above says -6 and its still got it showing. TBH, if your looking at the outside temp, i`d hope your smart enough to know near 0 it`ll be icy.

Matt

I had the same this morning and this consused me too.

On a related note, does anybody know if there is a minium temp on the fabia, below which stops reading. I was at -7 today when I left the house. My commute takes me out into the rural areas where the temp typically drops by 2-3 degrees. Only got to -7.5 today.

I sure there could be 101 local factors to consider but I was wondering if there was a minimum setting? A colleage had -10 on a similar journey.

Don't think so, as I had -15 on the way into work today
