Help with VAG-com report

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but following on from my Fabia starting problems. I bought the cable and plugged it in and have the following faults:-

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S

1 Fault Found:

01598 - Drive Battery Voltage

07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

From my previous post about the coolant sensor, it appears that I was correct., but what is the 01598 - Drive battery fault? is this telling me that the car battery is knackered?

Having put < BORDNETZ-SG. 1S31 > into a Google search and read some of the posts that come up I think you might find that's a residual fault code from this incident:

My wife's 2001 Skoda Fabia refused to start a couple of weeks ago and I suspected a dodgy battery and that she had flooded the engine, I had to leave it over night and went back to it and used a jumper pack, it took a few goes, but I eventually got it going.

... and thus the diagnosis might be to clear that fault code and see if it reoccurs.

just clear the code, means someone has ad the battery disconnected at some point most likely.

battery might be on its last legs, or its just a temp fault - clear it. :)

BTW you might want to edit out the entire line starting TMBP... as it is your chassis number etc. I doubt anyone would clone your car but better safe than sorry.

I assume this is a 1.4mpi 8v based on it using Simos 3p. If you have no idea if your thermostat or temp sender have ever been replaced, on getting that code on the 1.4mpi i'd look to replace both because I can guarantee you you'll change the temp sender and find the thermostat broken inside the housing.

Drive battery voltage is probably in part due to the weather but may suggest the battery is about to die. I'd clear the codes and clean up the battery terminals (removing negative first and replacing it last, making sure not to short the terminals). Edit: reading above it seems your battery died and you needed to jump start this would give the code too. You'd also get this code if you had a brand new battery in that replaced a dodgy one. I'd get a thermostat housing with temp sender ordered.
