■ Fabia Monte Carlo launched to celebrate 100 years of the legendary Monte Carlo Rally and 110 years of Škoda’s participation in motorsport

■ A new Fabia model with aggressive, sporty styling and enhanced equipment

■ Set to make its first public appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo

Škoda’s Fabia line is about to be extended with the introduction of the Monte Carlo, a new model with enhanced sports styling and bespoke interior. Launched to celebrate 100 years of the Monte Carlo Rally, and commemorate the 110 year anniversary of the brand's motorsport efforts, this special edition model is a nod towards Škoda’s sporting pedigree.

From the outside, the Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a dynamic look, underlined by the introduction of piano-black body trim, which extend over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black door mirror covers, a black radiator grille top, smoked headlamps and black 17” lightweight Trinity alloy wheels.

Inside the Fabia Monte Carlo, customers can choose between all black or, red and black sports seats which boast additional side support. Both versions come with black roof lining, a perforated leather steering wheel with red stitching, leather handbrake and gearstick gaiter with red stitching (with the red-black interior option). To complete the enhanced sporty appeal silver kick plates and steel pedals are fitted as standard.

The new Fabia Monte Carlo is set to make its first public appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo (19-22 January), where Škoda’s current all-conquering IRC championship winning rally car, the Fabia S2000, finished fourth (in class) on its first outing at this legendary rally in 2009. In 2010, Škoda Motorsport finished second, third and fifth (in class) with Hänninen, Vouilloz and Kopecký, respectively.

Available as hatchback only, the car’s trim is based on the current Fabia SE version, and the new Monte Carlo will be available with a wide range of engines.

Those wheels are just awful. :giggle:

Looks mean with the black grille and the dark headlights.

Davy

Looks good i like the grille and headlights emoticon-0148-yes.gif and the wheels are not that bad

rob

I like :thumbup:

Just needs;

Full red leather,

Red carpets,

Black headlining,

Red calipers,

2 tone S/wheel,

2 tone furry dice,

500w stereo,

Sorted.

I like the look, would be better in an estate :yes:

I wonder if you can get the smoke glass headlights for the vRS ?

hum - thats quite nice.

BUT - looks too much like this;

and this;

Seems like VAG has become obsessed by red with black "bits" on it recently.

Would still steal the headlights and the red and black sports seats!

Bet you`ll end up being able to get all the etxra bodykit bits from Skoda for less than the extra they will be charging for it.

Piano black body trim? Oh dear :S It will never ever look clean, will show every fleck of dust, fingerprints and scratches so easily you won't believe it.

I like the idea, but plain black trim would be better. Price is rather high too, nearly a grand more than an Elegance? Perhaps inflated for the "special edition" factor? hmmm I'll wait for the Sport prices to be announced.

I think it IS the Sport! in the UK at least.

I hope not! Puts me right off.

If it wasn't an official model, you'd be seeing them posted on BarryBoys :giggle:

Not only recently, the missus has an Audi A2 Colour Storm from 2003 with the same ladybird look minus the black wheels.

Was in a dealership today and it was described as the sport or bassicly the VRS with standard engine choices. This was only about 30seconds of the discusion so may not be 100% but it lookes like it is the "sports" model.

And don't forget the Seat entry too.... Ibiza Bocanegra.... (Saw one on the M1 a couple of weeks ago looked pretty nice in the flesh).

Have to say I rather like it. And dare I say it but with the diesel engine about as near as possible (at the moment) replacement for the mk1 vRS.

Hmmm tempting lol

If we are talking about the Ibiza Bocanegra , I think it can only be bought with the same engine as the Mk 11 vRS.

Not sure. I know it comes as a variant of the FR and Cupra spec levels. Have they dropped the diesel from those two variants?

Cheers

Dave.

Shame there's no DSG option or I'd be tempted with a 1.2TSI.

Skoda website has no mention of it yet... was supposed to be launched today.

I think the FR is a diesel engine option but the Cupra and Bocanegra have the vRS 1.4 TSI engine.

No doubt somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

John

The Skoda Microsite mentions the Sport as 'Coming Soon'. Engines include the 105 CR. Now, how about chipping one of those? Any thoughts on the Remap?

I hope so!

John

The FR comes with a choice of Diesel 2.0 TDI 140 or petrol 1.4 TSI 150. Cupra/bocanegra are petrol 1.4 TSI 180 only. :yes:

yeah forgot the Boc, but I dont think it actually has black wheels, thought they were only dark anthracite colour!

Me personally - if I got an Ibiza I`d get the FR with the TDi engine and tune that up. Instant mk 1 vRS replacement!

Wonder if this Monte Carlo thing is going to get some better seats too - the ones in my Elegance aren`t very sporty at all!

Just to confirm about this car
