That is Autobrite lance and Magifoam ordered but nowhere in my local area does Argos have any £51 Nilfisk power washers in stock.

Will wait to see if they come in soon, if not I will be buying more expensive model with patio cleaner and other stuff I don't need

That's a pity, you could order one online from here, free delivery until midnight 27/01/2011 if you use code WEBFREE

That is the Nilfisk order from CPC thanks for the link. £51 with delivery included. Bargain! Hope it stays dry this weeked :)

Well, the foam lance arrived today but it is dark now  I am just in the house and back to work tomorrow and Wed. Thursday is going to have to be the first day out with the new lance, Nilfisk and Magifoam. Can I wait that long???? Probably not!

Go on Cyril, nothing wrong with a bit of late night foaming :giggle:

It did cross my mind but, as I work shifts and have just had Fri, Sat Sun and Mon off and spent Fri, Sat and today shooting I dodn't think the boss in doors would appreciate me cleaning the cars when I got in! :'(

Still, if I pour her a large Gin and explain it IS a new toy then maybe????????

No, I am not as brave as Messers Keys and Gray!!! :p

Well, just had my first go with the snow foam what a laugh! Took longer to clean up after than to do two cars :wonder:

Both my cars are very, very dirty with no wax etc on them. I waited until I got home from work then gave them both a quick power wash before snow foaming. I used the Nilfisk with the Autobrite Lance and the free snow foam (have 5 litres of Magifoam to try too).

Being badly lit (dark) when I got home, the power washing was a poor job, I put in 1 inch of snow foam and set the lance too the more concentrated setting, think I need to let the car dry a wee bit before snow foaming, it stayed on but not that well, one bottle (1 inch topped up) did the two cars though.

Also, beacause the cars are very dirty the cleaning is very very patchy. Wondering if I need to give cars a very good power wash (in daylight) then two goes with snow foam? If that does not work then I will have to get out the shampoo and the Asda noodle glove (2BM) I think.

Don't think my car (vRS) has ever been detailed and the paint is probably a state so I can't see me doing too much damage, don't think I can possibly avoid a contact wash. I have access to a polishing machine and 3M stuff, I have plans to buy some decent stuff (see earlier entries) and to wash, clean, seal and wax the whole car, may have to do some correctional work too.

Luckily my Scout is on order and so I have a wee scrappy M plate Civic on loan just now to keep me going, it will be just the car to practice polishing and correction work.

You'll only find a good result contactless washing when its got a coat of sealant on and two or three coats of wax.

as for the foam, try just over an inch and make sure the water is nice and warm.

Learning all the time! Used cold water for the dilution. Will give it another go at the weekend.

Cheers,

Cyril

I used my autobrite lance and snow foam for the first time at the weekend too and it was great!

I did the wifes 4x4 and my VRS 3 times each in the end....I too didn't use warm water in my bottle just some of the snow foam and cold water, will using warm water make much difference??

I tried using some of the swarfega car clearner that was mentioned a few times on Detailing World with the Lance but it didn't foam up anything like the snow foam so I used it for giving the wifes car a hand wash

Just to add my 2p into this thread if allowed............... :|

This is one of my issues with snow foam and one of the reasons why I don't use it on my own motor, it's a bit of a gimmic for me and granted it does remove some dirt but sadly it has to be followed up by a 2BM wash method, I am yet to find a snow foam that really strips back ground in dirt..............

It's is an open forum I believe, dive right in!

I supposed (and still hope) that, when the cars are properly cleaned, sealed, polished and waxed several times then the snow foam can be used in between 2BM washes just to give the cars a quick clean? I have magifoam to try (bought 5 ltrs as part of lance deal) The free snow foam is still sat in my drain 24 hours later!

It did take a while to clean the foam off the drive, (4 dogs would have a whale of a time if I left it) nd in any case, the fun to be had with the snow foam lance makes it all worth while!

Dear Mr 21, :D

in the following link http://www.detailing...ad.php?t=190170

you use snow foam as part of the process. I know it is not your own car but, did you maybe amend your detailing regime after a period of using snow foam, without success? Or do you merely use it only when detaining other peoples cars?

Not taking the mick, just interested in the journey you have taken(and experiance you have gained) getting to this point in your car cleaning methods?

I use it as a first stage before pressure washing. Figure it loosens up dirt a bit and helps lift it off. Then go on to 2BM.

Ditto, but I foam - rinse - foam - 2BM while foam on car - rinse - dry

Spraying it on neat during summer only where the flies have been helps break them down before foaming/cleaning/rinsing.

I also noticed a difference between products - Bilt-Hamber seems to work better than the Autobrite SuperSnow foam.

I also stick some Gold Class in with the foam as well.

I think my opinion of the product is that yes it can be used between washes but it's not going to remove enough to remotely not need a 2BM wash method afterwards and as stated with plenty of protection on the car, the dirt should really just rinse off as it will have struggle to have adhered to the protection................ :|

Snow foam when completing a detail for me is one of my processes yes and I found at the beginning that using such products reduced the durability time of my protection on my own car, now not using this allows me to 2BM safely and effectively without un doing and hard work put onto the paintwork protection.

Granted you can change the strength of your snow foam but in reality it must be doing something to the protection in order to remove what's on top of it and if you have a good sealant on there then it's really not needed.

Just my opinion, that's all.................. :|

And a valued opinion it is. I am new to the detailing game so EVERY opinion is valuable (though, as it has snowed heavily overnight here I may not get to practice my cleaning regime for some time) :|

With this weather it may be a month or two before I have a chance to give the car a really good going over. For this reason I have not yet ordered all the products I intend to purchased .

I always snow foam. It makes a small difference, so I deem it a bonus if it shifts even a little more dirt before I start to wash, given that there should be slightly less chance of wash marring if there's less dirt to start. I use a 3BM too, just to be on the safe side. Folks always seem to get pretty excited the thicker the foam is - the whole point is that it has to move slightly to enable it to dwell long enough to have some cleaning effect but thin enough to ba able to slide well enough down the car so the dirt can drip away. Just my thoughts, but I find it works for me - my vRS Estate is now nearer 3 years old than two and has hardly a mark on it! I've never had any correction to do yet, although it may get a wee run with Megs 205 before I sell it in the summer....

Going great thanks Simon!

Took a pay cut to go back to my old job, as they'd gone on to a shift system - I'm now there on a week on, week off system with 4 blocks of 2 week holidays on the shift too. I'm only there 22 weeks a year, so detail during the other 30 so things are going from strength to strength! Have some nice motors booked in during the next 6 weeks - 2 x S3's, RS4, MTM RS6 Avant, new X5, new M3 etc, so made the right choice at the right time! In the middle of 16 straight days detailing before I go back on to nightshift for a rest!

How's u and your little helper?
