WHAAAAAAT?

I want one!!

Hmmm, very interesting. 40cm isn't enough for a seven seat version is it? So a bigger boot and more rear legroom on a five door layout perhaps? :dull:

We hardly need more rear leg room, but more boot space..... To late for me at the moment. Maybe next time round. So a Yet SWB and a Yeti LWB (short with boot or long with boot :-;

Mike

That would make it about the same length as an Octy Scout, then - could be useful.

My lease is up in 18 months. I'll have one of these in Tangerine please. The only issue I have ever had with the Yeti is the boot size and this would end that. Search over before it has begun. Let's hope it is true.

Does anyone know if they are going to change the wheelbase or will they use the same set up but with an extra 40mm? The driving characteristics are so good that I hope they would not change the car too much, just give it a bigger boot.

Just took out the spare wheel from my yeti, its made a dramatic difference, so much so that i cant see how you would need a bigger boot than that.

When you do need a bigger boot, just fold or remove the rear seats!.

Trust TP to find it! It wouldn't help me - I am a 'loner' generally and just fold or remove seats if needed. But I imagine that many others will find this a boon, and it adds power to the Yeti marque moving onwards! I see, looking down that page that they also have a Yeti grille cover finished: someone was asking about one earlier, weren't they? - I don't know why. A cover for the bottom vent - to keep stones and, in my case leaves, mud and debris out, would be more useful. A mesh, such as has been discussed and indeed fitted by others, more enterprising than me, here already.

The difficulty comes when you have two kids in the back (so cant remove the seats) and are off on hols... (so need lots of storage space in the boot and cabin as well as the reassurance of a proper spare wheel in the boot). Thats the only time Ive found a weakness with the car overall and its ultimately its lack of boot space with the spare tyre in place that lets it down - even if its only really a problem two or three times a year.

With an extra 40cm, a 7 seat version might be possible. The Qashqui+2 is only 21cm longer than the standard. Wouldn't leave much boot space with them in use, but thats not unusal with any of the 7 seater offering from other makes.

Isn't that why you have roof rails?

400mm is a HUGE addition! And more than enough to fit two uesless rear seats in. The ONLY car out there (that is not an MPV) that has useable 3rd row seating in my book (ie seats I will travel in for a few hours) is the Land Rover Discovery. The middle row has space UNDER them for your feet. In most of these cars your feet are about 4" below the top level of the seat cushion with your knees around your face.

But for me I'd leave the 3rd row seats down and just use the boot space. Hopefully they will also make a five seat LWB version.

Not as convenient as having the space permanently there.

And other downsides surely... impact on fuel consumption? Security? (BUT I have considered the option for the next holiday!)

Plus bad back for lifting things into and out of the roof box, needing somewhere to store one when not in use. Roof boxes are very handy but a big enough boot permanently there is even handier for those who want it. Of course for those who don't the existing Yeti will keep doing the job.

I think a 40+ cm added to the rear of the Yeti would totally destroy the looks of it. I like the "chubbyness" of the yeti and that would be gone by adding 40 cm to it. 15-20 cm might be OK perhaps, but not 40! :wonder:

It will go hand in hand with a longer wheelbase. So perhaps a 100mm longer rear overhang with the other 300 going between the wheels.

A black one would make a fine hearse :giggle:

Ha, Ha, ha - it would at that! The one in the picture does have a very distinguished look, no doubt!

Euch - they've gone all LWB Mk1 Mercedes A-klasse on us, that looks manky.

Proper Yeti + spare wheel + roof box when required on high-days and holidays = job done

No it wouldn't ... I wouldn't be seen dead in the back of one of them.

Coat is already on it's 'kin windy out :giggle:

i'm with you, frank.

i think the extra length spoils the look completely
