Facelift Octavia integrated bluetooth install

Featured Replies

I bought this car kit on ebay (highly recommend this seller, kit is OEM and legit) to interface with the Bolero on the FL VRS, I'm planning pulling the interior apart tomorrow to undertake the installation.

Does anyone know if theres room behind the stereo to position the control module? I know all of the guides talk about mounting it under the drivers seat but I'd rather not have to route wiring around, down and under if its not necessary to do so.

I use a nokia bluetooth kit and this fitted behind the ashtray unit below the HU and aircon controls.

No where near enough room for the control unit, it's quite large. Routing wiring isn't hard though, and you have to go upwards for the mic anyhow so it's not much more work.

Which model octy is it??

My vRS has bluetooth as standard

When I fitted my OEM BT car kit to my old Octavia the module was mounted under the drivers seat. Mine was also supplied with a cover - bought from VRStu about 3 years ago.

I think my Snow Monster's one is also under the seat.

ran cables under the sill trim, microphone up the A pillar & across to the mic holder/grill in centre, cables through the stwwering wheel area and into the back of the stereo area.

Have a look on VRStu's website - found link: VRStu link

Thanks for the feedback guys, off I go out into the rain with a couple of screwdrivers and a load of patience! I've the 2010 model VRS with phone prep but no built in bluetooth (hence the purchase).

if you have phone prep maybe the wiring is already there and the module simply needs plugging in under the drivers seat.

Hold up

if you have the 2010 Facelift vRS then I can almost guarantee it has bluetooth fitted

my one has.. Have you tried to pair it with your phone via the Stalk ??

Can anyone else confirm the above comments. Is it possibly because Vectra1 is in Ireland, do you have the dsg box.?

I think its the first time in automotive history that an Irish spec car has better kit than a UK spec car, but its true. We get bluetooth but in the UK they don't.

No DSG

Irish spec vRS cars have bluetooth as standard

also

Spare wheel

reverse sensors

Only 17" wheels though

Possibly has more but not sure of standard UK spec.

To be clear, this is a 2010 UK spec car that I recently imported into Ireland, its a basic spec manual i.e. no bluetooth connectivity as standard.

I installed the kit this afternoon and I'm delighted to say that it worked perfectly right from the start. No issues using a Nokia E51 or Blackberry Torch both in terms of remote phonebook access or otherwise.

Unlike some of the install guides I've seen, there was no plastic holder under the seat for the control unit. In the end I opted to locate the unit behind the storage compartment under the light switches - it was a tight fit but I got there in the end, I used industrial strength velcro to keep it in place.

A word of warning for anyone who attempts the same with respect to the Bolero - there is zero room behind the head unit to locate the adapter block that comes with the kit. I had to remove the glovebox, pull the stock connection block back, connect the adapter in place and feed the stereo connection back in - even at that, it was a tight fit. Between messing about and trying to get the stereo back in place initially, I spend another hour on this piece.

One other point - theres a blue 8 pin block on the stock connector (believe its for aux in / CD) that needs to be moved to the adapter block (the kit comes with no instructions but its pretty obvious were most connections go.

The MFD (no Maxidot) doesn't display anything at this point but this isn't a big deal for me, I've got everything I need on the Bolero. I'll get it programmed up at some point if its possible to do so.

Hi All!

Got 5N0035730D kit from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260770361732&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Do have few questions ( please do not send me to "Search" :) )

1) Where to get mounting foam for unit it self? If I decide to do DIY - who know the dimensions ?

2) Where is default palace for MIC ? Is it middle top console like on golf VI ? Is there any alternative way for Octy II FL ?

Thank you in advance!

Any idea? I am just to lazy to dismantle half of the ca just for the MIC ;-)

There should me a mounting point for the mic behind the overhead plastic section beside the sunglasses holder / rear view mirror.

Not sure if theres a mounting kit available for the control unit, I was in the same situation and placed it behind the dash at right lower section of the steering wheel (secured with industrial strenght velcro), its pretty tight though. Worst case scenario, you could always cable tie the box to the carpet under the drivers seat.

I found this old thread and little comments. I retrofitted BT/HF kit today, and it was a bitch work. Adapter block didn't fit behind the radio. After two hours, I got an idea to take aircon/storagebox out and test if the block fits there. Well, it did perfectly.

Here is picture.

Only problem is that I couldn't able to get it work (with VCDS) via Maxidot. I just couldn't find the correct code. I used the installation guide I got from the Czech website, I ordered the kit. If anyone has any suggestion to that, I am very happy. It does work, and I am able to answer-end calls on my steeringwheel, mic works too, also able to play music.

Which BT module is it?

That should I believe integrate with maxidot in a FL. In VCDS is the communication protocol set to BAP under the head unit coding?

Yep, 19 and the can coding. That's the instruction I got. Tomorrow Ill try that. Thanks for reply. :D

1) Where to get mounting foam for unit it self?

I have a spare unused foam block for the modern modules. PM me if interested in buying it.

There is a proper metal mounting plate for the BT modules and a cover to hide it, but not easy to get hold of it.

Got it working. Great.

What was the fix pls
