dash leds

Featured Replies

I've just had my dials transformed with blue leds and was looking to do the rest of the interior switches blue too.Only problem is quite afew are different types of led!!!!! has any one successfully done the whole interior or do you know of anywhere i can get complete switch units already converted?

Someone on here posted pics a couple of weeks back and I'm sure they'd done everything so must be possible - try a search. I wish I had the skill and patience as it does look tons fresher than the green... I'd just end up snapping loads of clips and it costing me a fortune!

Good luck!

Marc

Great that you done the dash, need to see some pics now ! Other than the smd's the only other LEDs you need are 3mm ones

I was going to do some instructions on how to change the LEDs over. I but did a Poll and there did not seem to be enough interest and it isn't the easiest job to do !

Some pics of the light switch to give you an idea

Fair play to you for doing it though, think if I were to change them I would have them white hmmm....

I do like white. Parents Focus is white and red - very nice really. Nice and calming/relaxing.

Fantastic, thanks for the pics mate. Will be really helpful.

I got the light switches out, sliced my finger on a screwdriver and realised I needed 3mm leds!

Will get pics when it stops raining!

How did you get to the window switches in the doors? I had a little look but couldn't figure it out lol

Where did you get the 3mm leds?

Hi Dark Hero,

The led’s I got from Ebay. Once you have removed the moulding that holds the window switch (there are tutorials on how to remove door cards). The switch can then be removed from the moulding via 3 screws iirc, then the plastic cover can be removed and the smd’s replaced.

Hope that helps

Sorry for hijacking your thread Dark Hero, hope you don't mind.

Hi Tom,

You really need a fine tipped temperature controlled soldering iron and quickly heat up both ends of the smd while prising the smd off. Then place the new smd into position the correct way around and quickly heat up both ends.

Sorry again Dark Hero

haha no probs karl

That looks awesome, good work mate!

Was it hard getting the needles off the dials and re-aligning them again ?

  • Author

the needles just twist anti clockwise and pull off best to use a bit of masking tape and draw a line with a pencil to show where the needles line up
