Brake help?

Featured Replies

hi everyone im new here and to skodas and and was just wondering if anyone had the same problem as im having, i just swapped my car for a 2002 fabia 1.4 mpi classic and the guy i got her from supplied me with new brake pads as he knew they needed changing so i took time to change them to find that the caliper wont fit back onto the hub with new pads on as if the disc is too far away from the mount i pushed the piston back fully and tbh i had to really prise the caliper off in the first place to get the old pads out.

anyone else had this problem and solved it as i have changed brakes hundreds of time but this one had stumped me??

Not got the wrong brake bads? Ones that are too thick? (For my car there at least 2 thicknesses of the same pad, depending on what they're fitted too (G60 Golf etc))

how far off are you? Is it just a matter of a tap with a rubber mallet to get the caliper on? It may just be a tight fit. Or maybe try pushing the piston in tad further?

thanks for the quick replies guys i was thinking maybe the pads were too thick im off about 4-5mm, also i have tried to to tap the caliper on a little but no joy, altough the old pads are worn down its was still quite a tight fit to get the old ones back in till i asked you guys also the outside pad is rubbing. I will compare the pads against another make see if there is any difference cheers

Angle grind the rusty lip of the brake discs. That is if there is a lip which there might be if brake discs have been on there a while.
