My Fabia vRS SE 553 - Progress thread

Featured Replies

Here's a thread about my Fabia vRS SE 553.

Bought in August 2009 with 85,000 miles on the clock.

Stayed standard for a while, until I fitted Audi TT Comps with MASSIVE 225/45 tyres!

Needless to say, they looked kinda silly, so didnt stay on for very long.

Another set of Audi TT Comps came next, but these ones were polished.

The car was then lowered on KW -35mm lowering springs.

The front windows were also tinted, I chose light smoke.

I also hated the orange in the headlights and rear lights, so the indicator bulbs were replaced with Philips Silver Vision bulbs.

The wheels stayed on for a while, until I realised how much winter conditions affected them, so these were then sold.

Standard wheels went back on for a while.

Next came a set of Audi TT 6 spokes in gloss black.

I sprayed the headlight protectors and tinted the rear lights, but they didn't stay on long!

The car failed the M.O.T. in August 2010 on console bushes, so these were replaced with Cupra console bushes.

Just before christmas, I bought a set of TA Technix coilovers, and wound them all the way down. Wasn't low enough for me, so had plans to roll hardcore with the adjusters and helpers out...

Wind deflectors are a must for any car, so these came shortly after.

Around this time, I also had a black leather armrest fitted, the front grill sprayed in Satin Black and replaced the front badge with the engine cover badge, for the stealth effect.

Got bored of the Audi TT 6 spokes, and wanted a different look, so then sold them.

16" steel wheels came next, and are still on the car now.

These started off as your standard matt black kind of effect, nothing special.

I wanted the car to be lower, so removed the rear adjusters (including the cup!) and helper springs on the front.

This then resulted in the car having no suspension travel at the front!

Stayed like that for a week until I had time to refit the helper springs, and refitted just the adjuster cups.

On the same day I fitted my 8000k HID xenon kit, and all I can say is I'll never drive a car without them again!

I then decided to paint the steels gloss pink. Some people love them, some people hate them, but its all about being different and standing out.

Personally, I love the wheels, and they'll be staying for a while.

I do have a few plans:

PD160 intake (ordered, coming next week)

Panel filter (ordered, coming next week)

Black foglight surrounds (have a set here, just need to be sprayed!)

LCR front splitter in gloss pink

Respray front grill in gloss pink

PastyBoys front and rear retro badges

Black bonnet bra

Gloss black vinyl roof and mirrors

New headlights with black inserts, wrapped in Gun Smoke Lamin-X

New foglights wrapped in Gun Smoke Lamin-X

PD130 hybrid turbo (got the blown turbo sitting here, just needs to be hybrid'ed)

Front mount intercooler

Straight through exhaust from the turbo back

Helix uprated clutch and SMF

Decent map to hopefully take me to around 210-220bhp (hoping Unit 18 can help with this)

312mm front brakes

Front upper strut brace

Rear upper strut brace

Hope you've enjoyed reading, and I'll update when more progress is made.

All comments welcome.

Cheers, Matt.

Looks different with the pink steels

i kinda like the pink for some strange reason lol

Cars nice mate but the pink wheels make it look a joke. The way to make them better is to use spacers or have them banded an extra 2" wider and strech your tires back on. The pink wheels NEED a good aggressive off set to look cool.

Nice progress so far though mate.

Definitely different. Can't say I like them wheels though. They'd look better painted black and yellow like a crash test car.

And the 'All eyes on me' sticker? Seriously? I hope it's an ironic statement.

Looked best on the polished TT comps, the pink steels look pretty poor :o

Thanks for all the comments so far, really appreciated.

I know the pink steels are not to everyones taste, but I like them. They originally went on to see what it would look like with gloss pink wheels. I really like the colour, so the colour will definitely be staying. They are just winter wheels at the moment, but I'm on the lookout for other wheels I can do the same colour that will make it look more aggressive.

wow - certainly different!

CAn we ask if you are male or female?

looking good and making some good progress

Yeah, different is what I'm after, and as I've said, each to their own.

Modifying is a personal choice after all. Sure, there's plenty of Fabias I have seen on here I like, but there's also plenty of fabias on here that I don't like. But at tha end of the day, if we all liked and done the same thing, it'd be a boring world.

Oh, I'm a male. I thought you coulda guessed that by me writing, "Cheers, Matt." at the end of my description of the car.

Didn't see the Matt bit

I think the right wheels could carry the pink off right, will keep an eye on the thread

Certainly Unique Matt, hope to see it in the near future in the flesh so to speak

Nice one. I love the pink wheels.

Also glad to see more project threads on here finally!

Cheers fella.

I thought I'd start a thread, it's nice to see what other people think, and to get some advice, etc.

Yeah, I hope so fella. A meet has got to be arranged soon, it'll be good to meet up with fellow members!

Pink wheels - It's erm different

Pink Wheels FTW!

Nice to see a SE being modded, I really should start thinking about doing one of these. What are those wheels off? Nice car btw

holy smoke thats a fair milage in two years :o:o

It'd be nice to see a thread about yours as well! The wheels are off a beetle, found them on eBay. I changed the tyres to 195/45's though, as they came with 205/55's!

Yeah, it was an ex company car, so had higher milage. It has full service history with belt change and everything

Tbh my mod;s come and go too much. Right now my turbo's gone and its going to take me over a month to save for the hybrid :( Thanks for the info about the wheels! They have a nickname like G40's or something like that (but not that) lol. Keep up the work

Ross

Its crying out for a pink splitter!!! Lol.

Looks good, I think I prefer the black TT wheels though

Well you brave I'll give you that. Maybe it's an age thing, but that's bloody awful. Each to their own though and as long as you like them then that's all that matters.

Wouldn't have done that myself, but fair play to you! Reckon it would carry the wheels better with some spacers to get the stance right.

Personally, I'd have got it nice and low on the polished TT Comps B)

Cheers,

Andrew

Hilarious but tasteful! I would remove a few of the stickers though, just keeping the one on the rear window. All eyes on you? You can say that alright!

...the front grill sprayed in Satin Black and replaced the front badge with the engine cover badge, for the stealth effect.

then you painted the wheels pink?

hmmm stealthy pink wheels? me thinks not.

definitely different though.

and ignore those who say its a bad use of an SE, shucks it's only some blue paint and some leather! :)

Its bad use of an SE

erm not sure if i like it, looked best on TT Comps polished.

i'm on the fence on this one.
