Best dog guard and boot mat for Fabia 2 FL estate

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hope someone out there can help me. We've ordered a new vRS estate which I'm really looking forward to getting. However there is a slight fly in the ointment.

We have quite a big dog (4 stone Pointer x Springer Spaniel), he likes water and malts ALOT. He also needs a guard as we will have a young baby and he has a tendency to climb over the back seat...generally he's both a mucky wotsit and a pain in the arse!!

I'm of the mind of getting a very good quality guard (either the Skoda one or a 3rd party one of sufficient quality) and one of Skoda's selection of boot liners. At the moment in my Golf I have a Travall guard and a VW boot liner and both have proved brilliant, both easy to remove when not required.

I like the look of the Skoda guard, seems good value at £115 but I gather it's not a simple fit, the workshop needs to do some mods to the car to attach it in. I assume that will also likely incur a workshop fitting charge which may be the same cost as the guard! My other concern is how easy it is to remove when needing to fold the seats etc. It mainly will stay in place but will need to be removed now and again. Sadly Travall dont currently make a guard for the Fabia 2 though say there is one in development.....

Also with regard to the boot mat, I want something fairly solid (that will deal with a dogs claws - hard rubber would be best) that will catch his hair, moisture and general mess and stop the boot getting wrecked. There are three or four options in the accessories catalogue and I'm not sure which would be the best.

Has anyone been through a similar experience and able to pass comment? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the rubber boot mat in my estate, to stop my toolbox flying about in the boot on the move and I've carried a whole load of things to the tip in it and it's a Godsend really, easy enough to keep clean and easy to take in and out of the car to gain access to the sparewheel

Cheers do you know which one it is on the Skoda accessories list?

Cheers for the replys so far. The £33 mat looks like the one but can anyone comment on the dog guard?
