Heya

I need some links on Skoda's early history and how it was the butt of jokes in the 1980s... and then it joined Volkswagen and how it has been rapidly improving ever since. I also need to know all about the company's present performance. Also need to know its strengths and weaknesses, recent/potential threats to the business and opportunities that it could utilise to become more successful.

Its for an assignment which is 1500 words long. I've already looked at its website, annual report and links on wikipedia. Would be great if I could get some more help.

It was only Skoda Auto that was bought by VW, not Skoda itself, are you researching Skoda as well as Skoda Auto? They're not the same you know!

Thanks that site helped. I also need to conduct a SWOT analysis on SKODA auto...ie (list its internal strengths, weaknesses and external opportunities and threats)

Any ideas?

Strengths - customer satisfaction, biggest player in Czech R. (need info), uses common platform of VW engines, so can focus on design/innovation (need info)

Weakness - poor brand perception, people used to joke a lot about it (need info), only 1.7% market share

Opportunities - differentiation of the cars by focussing on happy Skoda customers

Threats - competitive and crowded UK market, reflected in pricing, environmental constraints
